ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Life is a Special Occasion!
Hallmark
Today is Mickey Mouse Day which celebrates the birthday of everyone’s favorite animated mouse. He’s also one of the most famous cartoon characters, and is the first to have a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
This lovable character’s big screen debut was in Steamboat Willie on November 18th, 1928. He represents everything Disney related, and is one of the most recognized universal symbols of the 20th Century!
Mickey Mouse loves a good adventure, along with his friends Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck, Daisy Duck, Goofy and Pluto!
If you can't see the Bright Side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Laughter is timeless, imagination has no age, and dreams are forever.
Walt Disney
Mickey Mouse is definitely one of my favorite cartoon characters and thanks to my grandchildren, I have watched a lot of Mickey shows on TV. I also enjoyed watching the Mickey Mouse Club on TV when I was a youngster, but I cannot remember ever having any Mickey Mouse ears to wear although they were popular.
Today I’m off to a party for two of my granddaughters. They don’t have the same birth date but were both born in November. Our little sweet sugar AB turned 5 on November 13th and our Cutie Patootie will be 4 on the 21st. Today’s pictures are from their party last year and I hope to have pictures from this years celebration to share on the 21st.
It’s good there is going to be a party going on as today is to be a gloomy rainy day so this will definitely make for a brighter happier day.
I hope you all have a SUPER Saturday!
WHAT’S NEW IN THE KITCHEN
There is a food holiday to celebrate every day of the year!
It’s National Vichyssoise Day! This holiday celebrates vichyssoise which is a delicious thick, French style soup made from potatoes, cream, chicken stock, leeks, and onions.
Traditionally served chilled, vichyssoise has a French name but was invented in America. It was created in 1917 by a French chef named Louis Diat when he was working at the Ritz Carlton in New York. He named the dish after Vichy, a town near to where he grew up.
Vichyssoise is usually served cold, but it can easily be transformed into warm, flavorful potato soup for cold days.
Potato Leek Soup/Vichyssoise
Serves 6
4 potatoes, peeled and cubed
6 leeks, white parts only, washed well to remove any dirt or sand, and chopped
6 cups vegetable or chicken stock
1 cup of milk
3 tablespoons olive oil or butter
A generous handful of fresh herbs, rinsed and chopped - dill, fennel, thyme, marjoram, cilantro, etc.
Sea salt to taste
Freshly ground black pepper to taste
Sour cream, optional
Heat the butter or oil in a soup pot over medium heat. Add the leeks and saute them until soft, about 4 to 5 minutes. Add the potatoes and continue to saute until softened, another 8 to 10 minutes.
Add the stock and bring to a simmer. Cook until the vegetables are completely softened, about 20 minutes. Add the milk or cream, if you're using it.
Puree the soup using a blender until completely smooth or until it reaches your desired consistency.
Season to taste with the salt and pepper. Serve warm, topped with a dollop of sour cream and a sprinkling of fresh herbs.

Happy Birthday to your sweet little grands! They are adorable!
What a sweet pair your granddaughters are! I pray they will always be close to each other. I am close to my cousins and that is an added blessing! Oh, I do love Micky Mouse and the old cartoons! They don’t make them like the same anymore! I have never eaten vichyssoise! Although I have prepared it many times. I think I would prefer it hot! I am not a lover of cold soups I’m afraid! Hope you have a great weekend and party! Xoxo
Is there anything more American than Mickey Mouse? Old Walt Disney was sure a visionary, wasn't he?
Happy Birthday blessings to your adorable grand-girls. To have a sister you adore sounds priceless!
How sweet to celebrate their birthdays together! I bet a fun time was had by all!
