ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Life is a Special Occasion!
Hallmark
Today is Veterans's Day which honors all members of the Armed Forces who who served this country valiantly, and in a very big way. They served and fought to protect us, to keep our country safe, and to preserve our way of life. Veterans gave their time, and risked their lives for you and me. In some cases, they made the ultimate sacrifice.
This holiday originally was called Armistice Day and was first celebrated in 1921. In 1954, President Eisenhower changed it to Veteran's Day, in honor of those who served and died from all wars.
On November 11 at 11:11, 1921 the U.S. France and England each buried an unknown soldier in honor of those who died in World War I. This began the annual Armistice Day holiday. The time and day was picked because fighting ceased in WWI in 1918 on November 11 at 11:11. In keeping with this tradition, work stops on this day and time each year for a moment of silence.
If you can't see the Bright Side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
How important it is for us to recognize and celebrate our heroes and she-roes!
Maya Angelou
Veterans hold a special place in my heart as I’ve personally known a few. There are members of my own family that have bravely served in the miltary. Most people don't realize the great sacrifices they make in order to do their duty for their country.
They deserved to be called our heroes and I’m glad we have a day dedicated in their honor. The very first picture today is of DS#2 and his wife which are two of my very favorite veterans. They served their country well for over 20 years and have now retired from the military.
The other pictures today are of the snow we had on the ground yesterday. Today it is but a memory but is a definite sign of things to come.
Today I’m going on a little road trip with some of my family. Yesterday we hovered right around 30 degrees but today we’re to warm up into the 40’s with some sunshine coming our way too. It’ll be a good day to travel.
I hope you all have a SUPER Saturday!
Freedom is never free.

PRAYER REQUEST
DSIL’s Mom has been hospitalized and I would appreciate prayers for her for a speedy recovery. May the dear Lord bless her with healing and a full recovery.
WHAT’S NEW IN THE KITCHEN
There is a food holiday to celebrate every day of the year!
It’s National Sundae Day
There are hundreds of different variations of the original ice cream sundae, all with different ice cream flavors and toppings. They say that the most expensive sundae on record sold for $1,000. It had five scoops of rich vanilla ice cream, edible gold leafs, candied fruit, expensive chocolate, and was served in a crystal goblet with a golden spoon.
I scream! You scream! We all scream for ice cream!
There is no doubt about it, my all time favorite sundae is a Turtle Sundae. And that is what my recipe is for today.
Turtle Sundae
2 Big dips of Vanilla Ice Cream, Hot Caramel Topping, Hot Fudge Topping,
Large Pecan halves, Whipped Cream, and a Cherry. Yum!
COUNTING MY GIFTS
We often take for granted the very things that most deserve our gratitude.
Cynthia Ozick
Counting at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for. There is truly is always something to be thankful for.
5428. for our veterans, our heroes and she-roes
5429. for a family gathering however bittersweet
5430. for a sunny day
Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!
ADVICE FOR TODAY
This nation will remain the land of the free only so long as it is the home of the brave.

Will say a prayer for DSIL's mom; hoping she will be on the road to recovery so very soon. So grateful for all the people willing to serve in the military. We need to honor them and appreciate them every day of the year.
betty
I hope your DSIL's mother is doing better by now will say a prayer for her. My husband has been sick now for a few weeks and it makes it hard on us both. I'm up now since I have had to get up and help him three times tonight and decided to check the blog post. It's hard to get time to even get on the computer when you're needed to see after someone sick. I hope you don't have too many cold days and it's nice to have a chance to get out and about. I appreciate all the people that have served our great country your son's and family as well. My husband served in the army for two years. Take care and I wish you the best of health. Jean
