ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Today is Daniel Boone Day!
Daniel Boone was a famous US frontiersman and the first American to discover present day Kentucky. He also created a path to open up the frontier for future American settlers.
In 1769, Boone led an expedition through the Cumberland Gap, which he later transformed into the Wilderness Road, to provide others access to the western frontier. In 1773, Boone moved his family to this newly found settlement in present day Kentucky.

THOUGHT FOR TODAY
I have never been lost, but I will admit to being confused for several weeks.
Daniel Boone
In this day and age it’s hard to imagine what it would have been like to go into unknown territory and forge a road where none had ever been. Today we have GPS technology that shows the route to take to anywhere we want to go. Looking for direction to anywhere is a simple matter it seems.
I had some surprise and welcome visitors the other day that found me through their GPS system. It's quite amazing when you think about it, that someone that was not familiar at all with the area where I live drove right up the driveway to my house. And what a joy it was to see them too.
Still there are times when we all feel a little confused and lost. It would be nice if we had a system that would guide us through every step of every day. I like to think that my daily guide is the scripture readings I do every day. Having a Globally Positioned Spirituality system provides us with a means to know who you are, what you believe and where you’re headed.
Life is an adventure, a journey we all must take, and it’s nice to have a little help along the way. The pictures today are a mix of our beautiful Ohio countryside from adventures in the past.
I hope you all have a WONDERFUL Wednesday!
WHAT’S NEW IN THE KITCHEN
There is a food holiday to celebrate every day of the year!
It’s National Chocolate Ice Cream Day which celebrates one of the most popular ice cream flavors of all time. Culinary historians believe that the first ice cream flavors were fruit based, but by the 18th century both vanilla and chocolate were quite common. Thomas Jefferson took a fancy to ice cream while living abroad as the Ambassador to France during the 1780s. It is likely that he is responsible for bringing this delicious frozen treat to America.
I found this recipe to enjoy which is a perfect way to celebrate the summer days ahead.
Chocolate S’mores Shake
2 Tbsp creamy peanut butter
1/4 cup heavy cream plus 1/2 cup heavy cream
1 1/2 cup chocolate ice cream
Graham crackers, handful of crushed and some for garnish
Chocolate syrup
Handful of marshmallows
In a small bowl, combine the peanut butter with 1/4 cup heavy cream. Set aside.
In a blender, combine chocolate ice cream, 1/2 cup heavy cream, peanut butter mixture, and crushed graham crackers.
Drizzle chocolate syrup along the inside of a glass. Pour in the shake mixture and top with graham crackers and marshmallows.
COUNTING MY GIFTS
Life is an adventure. Enjoy the ride.
Counting at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for. There is truly is always something to be thankful for.
4960. for great frontiersmen, that forged a path for others
4961. for GPS systems
4962. for ice cream, chocolate is good

ADVICE FOR TODAY
People take different roads seeking fulfillment and happiness. Just because they're not on your road doesn't mean they've gotten lost.
H. Jackson Browne
A little smile, a word of cheer,
A bit of love from someone dear…

So neat about your surprised visitors, Ma! I like how we need to have a GPS for spirituality too!

A Globally-positioned Spirituality system ... yes!
Tho' chocolate ice cream used to be my 'go-to' snack after school, this recipe sounds wonderful. That is, if I could get past the peanut butter and cream. Put me in a corner with just those two and I'd be a delirious camper!
