ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Life is a Special Occasion!
Hallmark
Today is Smile Power Day. Feel the power. Give everyone you see a big, friendly smile. You never know, you're warm smile just might turn someone's day right around for the good! The smile is a symbol of happiness and vitality, a beacon of hope and an expression of emotion.
Love may make the world go round. But, a smile makes the world a happy place. A smile is a powerful thing. Best of all, it's contagious. However, in order to be effective, a smile must be sincere. People can see right through phony or forced smiles.
Spend the whole day with a big, bright smile on your face. A smile can add years to your life. It's a mood change for the giver and the receiver. It's easier to smile than to frown. A smile uses fewer muscles.
Here is a (((BIG SMILE))) from me to you!
If you can't see the Bright Side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
A smile is a curve that sets everything straight.
Phyllis Diller
There is nothing like a smile to brighten your day. I took advantage of some cooler temps this morning and opened up a few windows to let some fresh air in before the day heats up and that made me smile. The air conditioning has been necessary the past few days, but I do love it when I can open up the windows and let the breeze blow in. Having the house all closed up all winter and part of the summer is not my cup of tea. But I do like to be comfortable and I’m spoiled, so that is what happens.
I do remember a time though that we had no air conditioning in our homes or in our cars and we managed to survive just fine. My grandparents had a huge porch and that is where a lot of time was spent in the summer time. Maybe that is why I like porch sitting so much. Sitting in my rocker on the porch always make me smile.
One of my blogger friends gave me an idea for a plant stand and thanks to her I was able to get a few of my flower boxes off the table I have outside and that is what the pictures are of today. I have this little sitting area in the carport by the back door here. It’s a nice shady place to sit besides the sun porch. Lucky me I can take my choice.
There always plenty of reasons to smile if we look for them.
I hope you all have a GREAT day. Happy Thursday!
It takes a lot of work from the face to let out a smile, but just think what good smiling can bring to the most important muscle of the body... the heart.

WHAT’S NEW IN THE KITCHEN
There is a food holiday to celebrate every day of the year!
It’s National Lobster Day
The simplest way to enjoy Lobster is boiled then dipped in melted butter. I’ve never eaten a whole lobster, but enjoy lobster tails. There are many dishes made with Lobster, like Lobster Newburg and Lobster bisque, but I happened on this classic recipe to share with you all today.
New England Lobster Rolls
4 Tbsp. butter
4 split top New England style hot dog buns
4 tsp. mayonnaise
1 pound freshly cooked Maine lobster meat, chilled. You can buy it cooked, or use meat from a lobster you steamed yourself.
1 Tbsp. fresh lemon juice
1/4 tsp. dried oregano
1/4 tsp. dried thyme
1/4 tsp. celery salt
1/4 tsp. freshly ground black pepper
In a small saucepan, melt the butter over low heat. Brush half the butter onto the outer sides of your buns. Heat a cast iron pan over medium heat for 2 minutes, then toast the buns in the pan until golden brown, 1 to 2 minutes per side. Remove the buns from the pan and gently pry open the tops.
Spread about 1 teaspoon of the mayonnaise on the inside of each bun. Arrange a quarter of the lobster meat inside each bun. Reheat the remaining melted butter, if necessary, and stir in the lemon juice. Drizzle the mixture evenly over the lobster in each sandwich. In a small bowl, stir together the oregano, thyme, celery salt and pepper, then sprinkle a pinch of the seasoning mixture over each sandwich.

ADVICE FOR TODAY
Before you put on a frown, make absolutely sure there are no smiles available.

Aw, thank you for your sweet smile ... here's a tired one, right back at-cha!
I'm glad to read what you said about people being able to see right through another's phony smile. Toggle-on, toggle-off, it never quite meets their eyes.
Rather than let myself get down about things I can't control, I'm just going to focus on those whose expressions tell what's in their hearts.
Thanks for the memory of sitting in the rocker on our front porch when I was growing up. I remember being excited when the weather got warmer because it meant that the rocking chairs would be coming out and we would be putting the awning on the porch!
