ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Life is a Special Occasion!

Today is National Bubba Day which honors anyone named or called Bubba. To qualify to be honored today, your name can be formally, or informally Bubba. You can even take on the name Bubba for just the day. That way everyone can celebrate this day.
If you can't see the Bright Side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Let us be grateful to people who make us happy; they are the charming gardeners who make our souls blossom.
Marcel Proust
Here at my house we have our own personal Bubba. That’s what we fondly call my youngest son. It’s also who the pictures are of today. My dad said that in Hungarian, Bubba meant beloved. And he is loved by all us.
The weather here this week has been warm and sunny and today is supposed to be another one. Having the windows open and letting in the fresh air is wonderful. Going outside and feeling warm is nice too. So many cold and chilly days really make us appreciate days like these. One of my fiends out in Arizona says they are having 100 degree days already. Thankfully we are enjoying days in the 70’s here.
They say we really don’t appreciate things until we don’t have them. I’ve learned to appreciate more and more. So many times we take for granted the good things in life that mean the most.
I hope you all have a FANTASTIC Friday!
WHAT’S NEW IN THE KITCHEN
There is a food holiday to celebrate every day of the year!
It's National Doughnut Day which honors the Salvation Army Lassies of WWI. It is also used as a fund raiser for needy causes of the Salvation Army.
The original Salvation Army Doughnut was first served by Salvation Army in 1917. During WWI, Salvation Army lassies were sent to the front lines of Europe. These brave volunteers made home cooked foods, and provided a morale boost to the troops.
The picture above is the kind of donuts I usually have but I did find a recipe to try if you’d like to make your own.
FAST AND EASY OLD FASHION DOUGHNUT
4 c. flour
1 c. sugar
1 c. milk
4 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
2 eggs
2 tbsp. melted butter
1 tsp. vanilla
Mix all together, roll and cut with doughnut cutter. Deep fry until brown.
Delicious plain, or coat with sugar and cinnamon.
COUNTING MY GIFTS
Gratitude takes nothing for granted, is never unresponsive, is constantly awakening to new wonder, and to praise of the goodness of God.
Thomas Merton
Counting at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for. There is truly is always something to be thankful for.
4945. for Bubba, my youngest son
4946. for donuts, one of my favorite treats
4947. for a reprieve from the rain
Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!
ADVICE FOR TODAY
We are so often caught up in our destination that we forget to appreciate the journey, especially the goodness of the people we meet on the way. Appreciation is a wonderful feeling, don't overlook it.

A nice glazed donut would taste really good right now!! Happy to have "met" Bubba. I hope all is going well with you!
Now it makes sense why a box of donuts were gifted our front desk associates today!
I once had a rescue dog named "Bubba Charles." (Ya, in west Texas we used two names.) I liked reading the (Hungarian) origin of the name; and yes, I like YOUR Bubba's smiling eyes!
Isn't that funny Pam. I am not Hungarian, but we always called our youngst son Bubba too. His name is Bruce, so I guess it kind of fits. Ohhhh . . . glazed donuts. They are one of my weaknesses! I especially love the sour cream glazed. Oh boy, I could eat more than one of them! Your bubba is a very handsome man, and your grandson is really cute also. You have such a beautiful family! xoxo
