ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

TODAY IS FLIP FLOP DAY!
If you’re tired of keeping your feet in stuffy shoes and need an excuse to expose those toes, Flip Flop Day may just be the answer.
People have been wearing flip flops for thousands of years, with the earliest wearers being the Ancient Egyptians in 4000BC. Since then, the sandals have been worn throughout the world and have become a favorite for people enjoying a relaxing day at the beach or walking around in the sunshine. Flip flops got their name because of the slapping sound they make against the ground when you walk in them!
If you can't see the Bright Side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Flip Flop Wisdom
Flip flops never let minor irritations like sand in their toes get in their way of enjoying a sunny day.
I do have several pairs of flip flops and wear them often in the summer. Most of what I have are Reefs. Thanks to DS#4 and his wife, I found out that they provide a little more support than the others I’ve had in the past.
They say life is better in a pair of flip flops and on that I have to agree. It means it’s summertime and the living is easy.
We had a little reprieve from the heat yesterday with temps in the low 80’s. I spent a lot of time on the sun porch and that is what today’s pictures are all about. The view from the porch. It’s a pleasant place to sit. When I got the furniture I have there, I remember trying out all the chairs at the store to make sure I got some that were comfortable. These days I work a little and rest a lot so I wanted to make sure I had a good place to rest.
I hope you all have a FANTASTIC Friday!
WHAT’S NEW IN THE KITCHEN
There is a food holiday to celebrate every day of the year!
Today is National Fudge Day!
Fudge is a deliciously sweet and rich candy. The most popular flavor is the original chocolate, though it does come in many other flavors. Some popular flavors are peanut butter, Oreo, marshmallow, nut, maple, and rocky road. Fudge tends to be cut into small squares and has a smooth, soft texture.
Marshmallow Marble Top Fudge
3 cups Semisweet Chocolate Chips
1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
2 cups miniature marshmallows
1/2 to 1 cup nuts chopped. optional
4 tablespoons butter or margarine, divided
dash salt
1 can sweetened condensed milk, 14 oz.
Line 9 inch square pan with foil. Melt chocolate chips and 2 tablespoons butter with sweetened condensed milk, vanilla and salt in heavy saucepan over low heat. Remove from heat; stir in nuts. Spread evenly in prepared pan.
Melt marshmallows with remaining 2 tablespoons butter in medium saucepan over low heat. Spoon onto fudge. With table knife or metal spatula, swirl through fudge.
Refrigerate 2 hours or until firm. Remove fudge from pan; peel off foil. Cut into squares. Store loosely covered at room temperature. About 64 pieces or 2 pounds.
COUNTING MY GIFTS
Unlike bathing suits, flip flops fit every year.
Counting at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for. There is truly is always something to be thankful for.
4987. for flip flops they let my feet breathe
4988. for fudge, everyone needs some sweetness in their life
4989. for a sunroom to relax in
Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!
ADVICE FOR TODAY
Life is like a walk in the sand
Sometimes you flip
and sometimes you flop
A little smile, a word of cheer,
A bit of love from someone dear…
Love,
ma

What a nice place to sit and enjoy the views outside! I'm wearing flip flops right now, LOL. Its funny here with the heat, sometimes you'll see women wearing boots in the middle of summer. That I couldn't do, but would wear flip flops perhaps in winter here :)
betty
I have never been much of a flip flop person. That thing between the toes makes me crazy. I like my Crocs! Happy Summer!!
Flip flops and fudge, fantastic!
:-)
I only dare to wear flip-flops while around the house ... too much of a klutz to be trusted not to trip in public. :)
Betty's comment reminded me, I spotted a middle-aged lady waiting to check-in this afternoon wearing SHORT-shorts and cowboy boots.
... But she had a big old smile on her face, so I say, who cares!
