ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Today is Sunglasses Day which is a shady day for your eyes. Summer is in full swing. The sun is high in the sky. It's blindingly bright. A pair of UV protection sunglasses is definitely in order.
Sunglasses protect your eyes from harmful UV rays. Your optician will tell you that sunglasses with UV protection, will help to avoid cataracts. They protect against blue light from the solar spectrum, which could increase your risk of macular degeneration. They lead to improved and more comfortable vision from not having to squint. They can make it easier to adapt to darkness. Exposure to bright light can make it more difficult to adjust to driving at night. They also report that UV rays can be stronger in the winter, as the sun's rays hit you on the way down and as it is reflected back up from the snow.
If you can't see the Bright Side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
When your life flashes before your eyes, make sure you've got plenty to watch.

The pictures today are of my new pineapple lamp in the guest bedroom. I found it recently and it’s the perfect fit. It turns out that I moved a broken lamp and needed a new one for the dresser. I wasn’t even really looking for one at the time, but there it was, and I bought it.
The spare room has a tropical theme and so does today’s food holiday so that is why I choose to show you the pictures. It really doesn’t have anything to do with sunglasses other than to remind us that when it get’s tropical out we really need to remember to wear our sunglasses.
I have the transitional kind of sunglasses. They are regular glasses but when the UV rays hit them they darken and protect my eyes. I really need a new pair as I have Gorilla glued the arm on them several times and sooner or later that glue is going to give out. I found out that it’s quite expensive to replace the arm so I’m thinking that it’s just time to replace the glasses. They are several years old now and maybe I even need a new perception. My eye doctor has retired now so the big thing will be to find a new one. That may take awhile, we’ll see…
Today is looking to be a repeat of yesterday. Cool in the low 70’s but party sunny. It’s my day to cut the grass and cooler weather will certainly make it more pleasurable. And yes, I will be wearing my sunglasses.
I hope you all have a TERRIFIC Tuesday!
WHAT’S NEW IN THE KITCHEN
There is a food holiday to celebrate every day of the year!
Today is Pineapple Day. Pineapples are useful in so many things, from a stand alone treat all on their own, to producing a very tasty fruit beverage full of vitamin C. If you’re the sort who likes a rich tropical beverage to cool you down on a hot day, then the Pineapple is half of the perfect solution.
Fresh pineapple is rich in immune system nourishing vitamin C and is loaded with minerals we all need replenishing of on a hot summer day such as potassium, magnesium, copper, and calcium.
Refreshing Pineapple Cooler
1 small pineapple cored, rinsed and coarsely cubed for the blender.
2 cups water
1 tsp. almond extract
Juice of 1/2 lemon
For a smooth drink put everything into the blender and blend until smooth
For a Slushie Drink add 2 cups ice to the blender mixture and pulse till ice is the size you want.
COUNTING MY GIFTS
The great blessings of mankind are within us and within our reach; but we shut our eyes, and, like people in the dark, we fall foul upon the very thing we search for, without finding it.
Seneca
Counting at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for. There is truly is always something to be thankful for.
5020. for sunglasses, it’s important to protect your eyes
5021. for pineapple, cool and refreshing
5022. for automatic ice makers, I certainly do miss having one
Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!
ADVICE FOR TODAY
It is only with the heart that one can see rightly; what is essential is invisible to the eye.

86 days until fall... that's what my heart lives for!! *lol* Thanks MA & have a great day!!
Blessings~ Andrea
That pineapple lamp is so cute! My glasses do the same thing to be sunglasses. I got a new pair this year. My vision had changed, but thankfully no cataracts.

I seriously need to explore options for a 'real' pair of sunglasses, particularly given this time of year I'm driving/squinting into work east-bound almost an hour each morning.
Your guest room looks so cool and refreshing! For a while there, our company computers' default screen saver was a pineapple -- incidentally, the international symbol of hospitality!
