ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Life is a Special Occasion!

Today is International Fairy Day which celebrates these incredible mythological creatures that have captured the imagination of people everywhere and their diverse history.
Fairies have existed in just about every culture over the world, though they may have been called by different names. What they have in common, no matter where you go, is that they are spirits that inhabit the world around us and often operate by strange and often odd laws.
International Fairy Day is the perfect opportunity to relive your childhood fantasies and celebrate the joy and magic of the fairy world. Read a classic fairy tale, build a fairy house, or take a stroll through the woods. You never know when you might stumble across something magical!

THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Fairies are invisible and inaudible like angels. But their magic sparkles in nature.

I’m a fan of fairy tales. I like the happy ever after endings they have. I guess we all grew up with these tales. They’ve been told generation after generation. Most of the classic fairy tales include a lesson to be learned such as good always wins. There is always a moral to the story.
Fairy gardens are fun to make too. All you need is a little imagination. A cute container, some plants and a few accessories are all it takes to get the magic of a fairy garden growing. You can grow them inside or out and they are a lot of fun. I went to one of our local garden centers yesterday and that is what the pictures are of today. They had lots of ideas and items for sale to make your own fairy garden.
Friday brought some heavy rains here, but today is going to be a sunny day for us. Hopefully I’ll get out for a ride on my bike. I need the exercise and it’s a great way for me to get it. I may even get some more pictures to share.
I hope you all have a SUPER Saturday!
WHAT’S NEW IN THE KITCHEN
There is a food holiday to celebrate every day of the year!
It’s National Pralines Day
Pralines were originally created in France by coating almonds in caramelized sugar. The recipe evolved when French settlers brought the recipe to Louisiana where chefs in New Orleans eventually substituted pecans for almonds and added cream.
Here’s a recipe in case you’d like to make your own.
MARSHMALLOW PRALINE
2 c. white sugar
1 stick butter
1/2 c. evaporated milk
16 lg. marshmallows
1/2 tsp. vanilla
2 c. pecans
Mix sugar, butter, milk and marshmallows. Heat until melted add vanilla and pecans. Cook to 240 or 250
degrees on thermometer or hard stage. Cool stirring until it starts getting thick. Drop by teaspoons on buttered parchment paper.
COUNTING MY GIFTS
Wind chimes in your yard will serenade garden creatures — squirrels, fairies and angels.

Counting at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for. There is truly is always something to be thankful for.
5011. for wind chimes blowing in the breeze
5012. for tales with morals
5013. for pecans, always my favorite
Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!
ADVICE FOR TODAY
And as the seasons come and go, here's something you might like to know. There are fairies everywhere: under bushes, in the air, playing games just like you play, singing through their busy day. So listen, touch, and look around — in the air and on the ground. And if you watch all nature's things, you might just see a fairy's wing.

A little smile, a word of cheer,
A bit of love from someone dear…

Hope you were able to get a bike ride in today, Ma! Fairies indeed are so cute!

That's a great idea about taking your camera along to the garden center! I've never given much thought to fairies, but now that you mention it ... I saw a couple of hummingbirds playing games this morning that might just fit the bill ...
