ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Life is a Special Occasion!

Today is World Juggling Day which recognizes the amazing feats of dexterity and skill required by this demanding art form. The types of things you can juggle and the styles of juggling are truly far and wide, and some of the most demanding don’t even require that they leave your hands.
If you can't see the Bright Side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Life is a juggling act that sometimes requires that you drop everything.
Linda Pondexter
Today is another hot one here in Northern Ohio with temps in the lower 90’s. Lots going on around our area this weekend for those that want to venture out in the heat. There’s the Duck Tape festival and I know DS#5 will be out there as he and his art club have made a duck tape float that will be in the parade. And there is the Fish festival which is also in a town nearby. It’s on the lake so of course they are celebrating fish! Both will offer a lot of fun and good food.
As for me I’m staying in where it’s cool. This heat tends to wipe me out so no matter how great the food and fun is, they aren’t going to tempt me to go out. These days anything past mid 80’s is too hot for me. I might venture out to water the plants but that is about as far as I’m willing to go. The pictures today are of one of the Duck Tape festivals in the past that I did attend.
Don’t forget that as the temperatures rise so should your water consumption. I know I’ve said that before but sometimes we forget. Keep cool everyone!
I hope you all have a SUPER Saturday!
WHAT’S NEW IN THE KITCHEN
There is a food holiday to celebrate every day of the year!
Strategically created in the middle of National Fresh Fruit and Vegetables Month, this day is the perfect opportunity to re-introduce a healthy portion of vegetables into your diet. No doubt about it, Eat Your Vegetables Day was created to promote a more healthy diet.......for life!
There is no doubt about it, I eat more salads in the summertime. Anything cold and crunchy appeals to me when its hot, so today I’m sharing one of my favorite salad recipes. Served with fresh bread it's meal all by itself.
The Seven Layer Salad
head lettuce torn in pieces
onions chopped
celery chopped
frozen peas
salad dressing with a tad of sugar sprinkled on top, I use mayo
crumbled fried bacon or cubes of ham
shredded cheddar cheese
Layer ingredients in order given. Vary amounts according to your preferences and the number of people you are serving. Cover with plastic wrap and place in refrigerator for 3 hours or overnight.
COUNTING MY GIFTS
Imagine life as a game in which you are juggling some five balls in the air…work, family, health, friends and spirit. You’ll so understand that work is a rubber ball…But the other four balls —family, health, friends and spirit …are made of glass.

Counting at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for. There is truly is always something to be thankful for.
4990. for faith family and friends, the important things in my life
4991. for a cool home on a hot day
4992. for salads, cool and refreshing
Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!
ADVICE FOR TODAY
The trick to juggling is determining which balls are made of rubber and which ones are made of glass.

Lots of fun it looks like for those who want to brave the heat. Wise for you, Ma, to stay put and not venture out when it gets hotter than your comfort range.

That salad sounds wonderful ... I'm all about 'seasonal' eating!
You're right. DH always claimed the heat didn't affect him, but this year's been a challenge; and we've been staying inside with the blinds all closed. Tuesday's temps are predicted to hit 121-122 degrees..... breaks my heart for the construction crews and landscapers; and of course, the livestock.
I love the image of juggling those 5 balls. My son has, in fact, recently spoken to me about "casting pearls before swine."
Loved today's pictures. I have made and eaten that salad many times. One of our favorites. Tomorrow is Father's Day. We have been very hot here too. And tonight there are storms on the horizon. Hopefully I can mow early tomorrow. Or wait until Monday!
