ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Life is a Special Occasion!

Today is Red Rose Day which is a time to enjoy and appreciate America's favorite flower, the red rose. A red rose signifies love. A June setting for Red Rose Day is very appropriate, as this is by far the most popular month for weddings. And, they are in bloom in the gardens across America this month.
In addition to being the most popular cut flower, roses are also the most popular flower in flower beds and around foundation of houses, garages and sheds. They are easy to grow, producing a bounty of sweet scented flowers from June up to the first frost.
If you can't see the Bright Side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Everything's coming up roses...
Roses are beautiful and I’ve been seeing them blooming every where. Knock Out Roses are very popular here and they do take your breath away with their brilliant colors. Roses do take sunshine though and that’s one thing I don’t have much of here at my house. I’m pretty shady most of the day and I fear they wouldn’t grow well at all. I guess I’ll just have to enjoy other peoples. Today’s pictures are ones from the past that I had in my photos.
This week is to remain pretty warm with temps in the 90’s today and in the high 80s the rest of the week. It may be that I’ll have to mow the grass today as the rest of the week is looking rainy. Maybe if I can get out there early enough it won’t be too hot. We’ll see…
Today is a good day to have a wonderful day!
I hope you all have a GREAT start to this new week. Happy Monday!
WHAT’S NEW IN THE KITCHEN
There is a food holiday to celebrate every day of the year!
It's National Peanut Butter Cookie Day!
The Aztecs invented peanut butter in the 14th century, but peanut butter cookies didn’t become an American favorite until the early 1900s. In 1916, George Washington Carver began promoting the peanut and its many uses. As part of the campaign, he published three peanut butter cookie recipes in a research bulletin entitled, How to Grow the Peanut and 105 Ways of Preparing it for Human Consumption.
In 1932, the Schenectady Gazette published the first peanut butter cookie recipe that called for crisscrossed fork marks on the top. Today, a peanut butter cookie just wouldn't be quite right without this iconic decoration!
There is no baking going on at my house due to the high temps we’re having but I found this recipe for no bake cookies that sounds pretty great.
No Bake Peanut Butter Cookies
1 1/4 cups sugar
1/4 cup butter
1/4 cup milk
3/4 cup Creamy Peanut Butter
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 3/4 cups quick cooking rolled oats
Line baking sheet with wax paper. Heat sugar, butter and milk in large saucepan over medium heat until butter is melted. Bring to a boil, stirring occasionally. Boil for 1 minute. Remove from heat.
Stir in peanut butter and vanilla until smooth. Stir in oats to coat. Drop by tablespoonfuls onto prepared baking sheet. Cool completely.
Makes 2 dozen
COUNTING MY GIFTS
A single rose can be my garden... a single friend, my world.

PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!
ADVICE FOR TODAY
Instead of complaining that the rosebush is full of thorns, be happy that the thorn bush has roses.
Proverb
A little smile, a word of cheer,
A bit of love from someone dear…
Love,

If I had to eat but one thing the rest of my life it would probably be peanut butter! That's interesting about origin of those iconic fork marks!
