ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Life is a Special Occasion!

It's Lucky Penny Day. Perhaps a Lucky Penny will be lucky for you today.
Taken at face value, a penny doesn't buy you much, if anything. It used to. During your parents and grandparents days, a penny bought a lot of things. Most notably was Penny Candy which got its name because a piece of candy cost a penny. Inflation year after year after year, eroded the penny's value. There has even been some discussion as to whether to discontinue the penny.
The penny still serves a very useful purpose. Some of them are lucky pennies. Lucky pennies are found on the ground. Not all of the pennies you find will be lucky. But, it will only take one lucky penny used to scratch off the mega winner on a a scratch off ticket.
Superstition has it that you should only pick up a penny that is lying face up.
If you can't see the Bright Side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Happiness is like the penny candy of our youth: we got a lot more for our money back when we had no money.
Mignon McLaughlin
If I had a penny for all the thoughts I’ve had, Id be rich. But sad to say I’m usually a day late and a dollar short with that. Wouldn’t it be nice if we could make are decisions on the toss of a penny. Heads up you win, tails you loose. But life isn’t quite that easy.
Putting in my two cents worth, isn't worth much either. That’s an old saying from back in the day when people wanted to give advice or input of information. The best advice I can give is don’t give advice.
A penny from heaven however means a lot. I know some, including me, that think those pennies found on the ground means that someone you love that is in heaven is thinking of you.
Today is looking like the best day of the week for me to get the yard work done. It’s to be a rainy day tomorrow. At least that is what they are saying. I’m glad to say that all the big puddles in my yard are dry right now.
While outside, I’ll be looking to see if I can find a penny or two.
I hope you all have a TERRIFIC Tuesday!
WHAT’S NEW IN THE KITCHEN
There is a food holiday to celebrate every day of the year!
It’s National Taffy Day, which always reminds me of going to our county fair every summer where they’d always have some of the best taffy ever.
ATLANTIC CITY SALT WATER TAFFY
1 cup sugar
1/2 tablespoons cornstarch
2/3 cup corn syrup
1 tablespoon butter
1/2 cup water
1/2 teaspoon salt
flavoring
Combine sugar and cornstarch, put into a saucepan, and add corn syrup, butter, and water.
Stir until boiling point is reached, and boil until mixture reaches 256 degrees or until a small portion forms a ball when tested in cold water.
Add salt, pour onto a greased slab and allow to cool slightly until the mixture can be handled. Pull until light in color.
Divide into separate portions, and color and flavor each portion as desired, while it is being pulled.
Lemon, orange, peppermint, lime, strawberry, or pineapple flavors may be used. Don't use too much color as the candies are usually quite pale and pastel in tint.
Pull out until 1 1/2 inches wide and 3/4 of an inch thick. Cut into pieces with a scissors and wrap in wax paper. Twist ends of paper to seal.
COUNTING MY GIFTS
A penny will hide the biggest star in the Universe if you hold it close enough to your eye.
Samuel Grafton
Counting at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for. There is truly is always something to be thankful for.
4915. for pennies, thoughts from heaven found on the ground

they may ever praise you for your loving care.

A bit of love from someone dear…

I didn't know the superstition of what side to pick up the penny. These days I don't pick them up, but leave them for kids perhaps to find. I usually use my bank card, can't say when I last used cash, so rarely pennies here for change.
