ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Life is a Special Occasion!

Today is Love a Tree Day. So, go out and give a tree a great big hug. Or, climb up into your favorite tree, and share some quality time with it.
Trees are a good thing. Trees play a significant role in reducing erosion and moderating the climate. They remove carbon dioxide from the atmosphere and store large quantities of carbon in their tissues. Trees and forests provide a habitat for many species of animals and plants. Tropical rainforests are one of the most biodiverse habitats in the world. Trees provide shade and shelter, timber for construction, fuel for cooking and heat. There are many, many benefits provided by trees. So, we all have good reason to love a tree or two.
Everyone has a favorite kind of tree. Use today to identify a tree you love, and to pamper it.
If you can't see the Bright Side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
It is not much for its beauty that makes a claim upon men's hearts, as for that subtle, something, that quality of air that emanates from old trees, that so wonderfully changes and renews a weary spirit.
Robert Louis Stevenson
I can certainly celebrate this day. With all the huge trees surrounding my home, I have a lot of opportunities. I’ve always loved being in the woods, and here I feel like that is where I am. I really don’t have a favorite one, I love them all. Just like each of us they are all unique and wonderful.
When I moved I brought along two little trees which are from the huge cedars in from the old house. They won’t grow too large being in the pots but they bring back good memories of the past. One is shown in the picture above.
With summer like temps coming our way this week, It’s going to be great to spend some time in the patio room and to just get outside . Fresh air and sunshine can’t be beat, and we here in northern Ohio haven’t had our fair share of it in a long time.
I hope you all have a TERRIFIC Tuesday!
WHAT’S NEW IN THE KITCHEN
There is a food holiday to celebrate every day of the year!
It’s National Barbecue Day!
It's time to dust off the grill and ignite the flames. Memorial Day weekend is just around the corner.
Here at my house I don’t have an outdoor grill but that doesn’t mean I don't BBQ. I use a George Foreman grill indoors instead. The Foreman Grill is a indoor electric grill that allows you to prepare delicious grilled food with all the flavor of traditional outdoor grilling. I’ve had mine for years and am thankful it still works, I found this recipe that sounds pretty good. I’m thinking it would be great on an outdoor grill as well.
BBQ Pork Chops
2 6oz pork boneless chops
2 tablespoons molasses
2 1/2 tablespoons ketchup
1 tablespoon red wine vinegar
3/4 teaspoon light brown sugar
1/2 teaspoon Liquid Smoke, optional
1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
Mix all ingredients except pork chops in a baking dish. Be sure to mix well for couple of minutes so all ingredients blend together and sugar dissolves. Add pork chops to the sauce. For best results, pierce with a fork a few times so sauce can penetrate the meat. Let sit for an hour covered in the fridge for even more flavor.
Preheat your Foreman Grill for at least 5 minutes. Use high setting if your grill has it. Grill pork chops for at least 4 minutes and check for doneness.
Serve immediately. Great with coleslaw!
COUNTING MY GIFTS
Today I have grown taller from walking with the trees.

Counting at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for. There is truly is always something to be thankful for.

PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!
ADVICE FOR TODAY
Let us learn to appreciate there will be times when the trees will be bare, and look forward to the time when we may pick the fruit.

We have talked about putting in an orange tree here but haven't yet. Trees are wonderful for providing shade. We do get to barbecue here pretty much year round.
