ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Life is a Special Occasion!
Hallmark
Today is Armed Forces Day which is a day to salute sharply all of the men and women in all branches of military, who protect you and our country. They can be called upon at a moment's notice to perform a risky and perilous mission for freedom and country. They train diligently both physically and mentally, so they will be prepared to prevail in any mission they face.
On August 31, 1949 then Secretary of Defense Louis Johnson announced the creation of Armed Forces Day. President Harry Truman also announced the holiday in a presidential proclamation on February 20, 1950. All branches of the military were asked to celebrate on this day and they complied on the first Armed Forces Day which was held the following year on May 20, 1950.
If you can't see the Bright Side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
How important it is for us to recognize and celebrate our heroes and she-roes!
Maya Angelou
I certainly salute all branches of the military and THANK each and every one for all they do. As a former military mom, I can attest to the sacrifices they make every day to serve our country.
Today is a celebration day here in our family for more than one reason. There’s to be a birthday party going on later today for our little X factor! It’s his 5th birthday this coming week and today is the party. Later on this week when the actual birthday comes, I hope to share pictures of today’s party.
What a difference one day can make. Thursday we were close to 90, Yesterday we were in the 50’s Today is to be in the 70’s. This roller coaster weather brings something new our way everyday. We can only take it as it comes and do the best we can with what we’re given.
Yesterday, my flower boxes we full of new plants, today they are not. I have a flower thief here at my house and I suspect it is the rather large bunny I’ve seen out in the yard. Or maybe it is the plucky ducky I saw passing by. Thankfully I did have a few left over plants to replace the missing ones and I have moved them up to higher ground. That is what the pictures are of today. Oh dear!
I hope you all have a SUPER Saturday!
WHAT’S NEW IN THE KITCHEN
There is a food holiday to celebrate every day of the year!
Happy National Quiche Lorraine Day! Quiche Lorraine is a delicious combination of eggs, cream, bacon, and cheese in a pie crust.
Although I have made Quiche the traditional way, my favorite way is much simpler. I’ve probably shared this recipe before but it is quick and easy and very good. It’s worth sharing again. If I’m making it with bacon, I use cheddar cheese and if I use ham instead, I use swiss cheese. You can also use a combination of broccoli and mushrooms instead of bacon or ham.
BISQUICK QUICHE
1 to 2 c. fillings of your choice
1 c. shredded cheese
1/4 c. chopped onion
2 c. milk
1 c. Bisquick
4 eggs
1/4 tsp. salt
1/8 tsp. pepper
Heat oven to 400 degrees. Grease 10 inch pie plate or 8 inch square pan.
Sprinkle fillings, onions and cheese in plate.
Beat remaining ingredients until smooth and pour into plate.
Bake 35 to 40 minutes or until a knife inserted halfway between edge and center comes out clean.
Let stand 5 minutes before serving.
Today is also Pick Strawberries Day and that is what I did I picked up the lovely strawberries, in the picture above, at the grocery store to make a fruit salad for today’s party. Strawberries would also make a great side dish to serve with Quiche.
COUNTING MY GIFTS
We often take for granted the very things that most deserve our gratitude.
Cynthia Ozick
Counting at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for. There is truly is always something to be thankful for.
4906. for our Armed Forces
4907. for baking mix, I use it a lot

Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!

How cute having a bunny around, but not if it was eating your flowers. That is a wide spread with temperatures, good cold catching times. Hsve a fun party!
We are dealing with this crazy weather here as well. And more than enough tornado watches and warnings. Lots of rain yesterday. We have lots of bunnies around our backyard too. I haven't planted any flowers so they have nothing to steal. LOL! I do feed them my leftover lettuce!!
