ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

HAPPY MOTHERS DAY AND HAPPY ANNIVERSARY TO DS#2 AND HIS WIFE TODAY !
It’s a double celebration here at my house today!
May the dear Lord bless and keep you all today and always!
If you can't see the Bright Side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
A mother's love is like a circle, it has no beginning and no ending. It keeps going around and around ever expanding, touching everyone who comes in contact with it.

The Mothers’s day celebrating started early on here at my house. DS#5 and his family came by with supper for me on Friday evening. They brought KFC and it’s a favorite of mine and one I don’t get often so it was very appreciated for sure.
DS#6 and his family also brought the lovely flower shown in the picture above when they came in last weekend. It’s decorating my patio room right now and is a lovely addition.
The picture below is of DS#2 and his wife. I think it’s beautiful and reflects their love for each other. They are a wonderful couple.
I am very thankful for all the Moms in my life. My own mom has passed away but will forever be in my heart. I have a daughter that’s a mom as are all my DIL’s. My sisters are moms and so are many of my friends. One thing about being a mom is that our job is never done. Even though all mine are adults, they remain my children always.
So Happy Mother’s Day to all my family and friends!
May God Bless Mothers for their patient endurance, for their persistent prayers, for their precious faith.
I hope you all have a RELAXING Sunday!
Motherhood
by Helen Steiner Rice
The dearest gifts that heaven holds
The ver finest, too
Were made into one patter
That was perfect, sweet and true;
The Angels smiled, well please and said:
Compared to all the others,
This pattern is so wonderful
Let’s use it just for Mothers !
And through the years, a Mother
Has been all that’s sweet and god
For there’s one bit of God and love
In all true Motherhood.
WHAT’S NEW IN THE KITCHEN
There is a food holiday to celebrate every day of the year!
It’s National Buttermilk Biscuit Day!
My grandmother taught me how to make biscuits and since they lived on a farm, there was plenty of buttermilk to go around and her biscuits were the best I ever had. She didn’t have a recipe written down, but taught me how to make them.
Sadly I don’t remember the exact ingredients used way back then but found this one to share with you all.
Old Fashion Biscuits
2 cups self rising flour
1 to 2 tablespoons shortening at room temperature, my grandmother used bacon grease
1 cup buttermilk
1/2 teaspoon salt
She would melt bacon grease in the pan used for baking the biscuits which also greased the pan at the same time. The biscuits should be touching in the pan to make them rise up higher instead of spreading out and being thin.
Work the melted shortening into the flour until it’s like coarse crumbs Add the buttermilk and stir until makes a ball in the bowl. Roll out the dough on a well floured surface and cut it with a biscuit cutter. Bake in preheated 400 degree oven for 15 to 20 minutes until brown on top. This recipe only makes 8 biscuits.
You can also make them using all purpose flour but you will need to add 1 tablespoon baking powder, 1/2 teaspoon baking soda and 1/2 teaspoon salt. You can brush melted butter or bacon grease on the tops once cooked or even before cooking if you like.
COUNTING MY GIFTS
As a mother, my job is to take care of what is possible and trust God with the impossible.

PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU ALL !

However time or circumstances may come between mother and her child, their lives are interwoven forever.

Happy Anniversary to DS2-and-his Mrs.!
An unexpected bucket of KFC is such a thoughtful gesture.
I've never attempted to make biscuits, buttermilk or otherwise. Still, between this picture and the memory of those McDonald's makes is enough to make me weak-kneed! :)
