ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Today is Administrative Professionals Day which recognizes the work of secretaries, administrative assistants, receptionists, and other administrative support professionals. The first Administrative Professionals' Day was celebrated in 1952, back then known as National Secretaries Day.

THOUGHT FOR TODAY
No one is more cherished in this world than someone who lightens the burden of another. Thank you.

I always like to celebrate this holiday because that is exactly what I was for many years. I worked as a secretary and also as an office manager. I am very thankful for those jobs as they helped me to support my family.
Now I’m retired, the work I do is very different in many ways. However, some of it is much the same. When I worked I still had a house to take care of too. So far this week I managed to get the lawn mowed and I got the laundry done. Some things never change.
We’re to have a beautiful summer like day today which is most unusual for us this time of year with temps in reaching 80 degrees. But looking ahead the long range forecast says we’ll be back to normal next week with temps in the mid 60’s.
The pictures today are of the lovely flowers and a few gifts that I got for Easter this year. I’ll be planting the Hyacinth outside so it will come up again next year. It’s a gift that will keep on giving.
I hope you all have a WONDERFUL Wednesday!
WHAT’S NEW IN THE KITCHEN
There is a food holiday to celebrate every day of the year!
It’s National Pretzel Day! Centuries ago, monks created the first pretzels from scraps of leftover dough. The unique knot shape represented the Holy Trinity. During the 17th century, pretzels symbolized the bond of marriage. This is where the phrase 'tying the knot' originated! Today, traditional soft pretzels are popular at sporting events, carnivals, and festivals.
Hard pretzels are a fairly new invention compared to the original soft pretzels. According to legend, in the late 1600s a Pennsylvania baker forgot a batch of pretzels in the oven. The over baked treats were dark and hard, but the baker sampled one anyway. He was pleasantly surprised by the crunchy deliciousness. Hard pretzels are now one of the most popular snack foods.
In honor of the day I found this yummy looking recipe for Pretzel Turtles to share with you all.
Pretzel Turtles
24 whole mini pretzels
24 whole Caramel Squares, Unwrapped
8 ounces Milk Chocolate, Melted
24 whole Pecan Halves
Preheat oven to 325 degrees.
Place the pecan halves in a single layer on a baking sheet and put in the oven for 5 to 6 minutes, shaking the pan once halfway through, until they're lightly toasted. Remove them after they're toasted and put them on a plate to cool.
Line the baking sheet with parchment paper. Arrange the pretzels neatly on the pan, then top each pretzel with an unwrapped caramel. Place the pan into the oven for 4 to 5 minutes, or until the caramels are softened, but not melting. Remove the pan from the oven.
Gently press a pecan half onto each caramel, just enough for the caramel to fill the pretzel. Set them aside to cool completely.
Meanwhile, melt the chocolate. When the pretzel and caramels are cooled, remove them from the baking sheet. Spoon small dollops, 1 1/2 teaspoon helpings, of chocolate on parchment paper, then lightly drop each pretzel onto the middle of each dollop, making sure they're centered. Allow them to cool completely before serving.
You could also spoon a little melted chocolate all over the tops of the turtles to cover the whole thing in chocolate.
COUNTING MY GIFTS
The hardest arithmetic to master is that which enables us to count our blessings.
Eric Hoffer
Counting at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for. There is truly is always something to be thankful for.
4834. for administrative professionals
4835. for spring flowers
4836. for pretzels, a crunchy snack
Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their

Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.

Lovely gifts you received! I too was a secretary for many years. They are the back bone of business, truly worth their wages to keep things running.

I was a secretary in my early working years. Then I decided to become a nurse. I never much cared for working in a business office although that is what I went to school for. Maybe it was just this particular office. Love the flowers. Yes, the gift that keeps on giving is the best!!
Me, too, Ma. Me, too! :)
I've never felt ashamed of being a secretary/assistant/what-have-you; and it's nice to be recognized. To tell the truth, I had no idea what today was until my boss presented me with a lovely vanilla/lavender candle this morning.
Your Easter flowers are lovely! I like the idea they'll continue to grow and bloom and prompt smiles.
