ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Life is a Special Occasion!

It's Go For Broke Day. Today is a day to put it all on the line, and take a chance. It might be money. Or, it can be a love relationship. Perhaps, it's time to initiate a risky project, or to take a new job.
Many of us go about our daily lives playing it safe, not taking big chances. If you are of a conservative ilk, you may have never gone out on a limb, or taken big risks. If this sounds like you, maybe today is a day to really let loose and Go for Broke.
If you can't see the Bright Side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Take risks: if you win, you will be happy; if you lose, you will be wise.

I feel like I’ve gone for broke here with moving into a new place before actually selling the old house. It was a chance I needed to take and did. We can only wait and see how it will all play out.
Since the new buyers were approved for their loan, I didn’t realize that could change and they had to apply for an extension on the closing date. Waiting is not an easy thing for me. It’s meant extra expense and care too. Thankfully DS#5 has been able to stop in at the old place and check it out daily. It’s not good leaving a place empty. So there has been more than one concern while waiting. My realtor says that all the needed credit letters were received and lender is working on getting a clear to close.
The doctors caring for DS#1 also took a chance and went for broke when they preformed surgery. It was clearly a good choice as he continues to improve daily.
Each day I go for broke and continue to put my trust in the good Lord, who can certainly handle things a lot better than I can.
The chances of rain are pretty slim here today and although cloudy things are drying out a bit. That won’t last long I know and by Friday we could see snow. This is definitely a month of transition here both in the weather and in our daily lives.
The pictures today are of the Star Magnolia tree, which were taken oven the years, is now blooming at the old house. I will miss it for sure. It started out as a tiny little bush and has grown into a lovely tree. There is always a risk that an April snow may ruin it’s blossoms, but it blooms anyway!
I hope you all have a WONDERFUL Wednesday!
WHAT’S NEW IN THE KITCHEN
There is a food holiday to celebrate every day of the year!
Today is Caramel Day which gives you an excuse to put this wonderful treat on anything you can think of! Caramel really does go wonderfully with just about anything, so take it upon yourself to whip up a dish of traditional brownies, and you can either mix the caramel in as a marbling, or drizzle it on top and sprinkle it with nuts for a special treat
TURTLE BROWNIES
1, 14 oz., pkg. caramels or 1, 11 oz. jar caramel or fudge topping
2/3 c. milk, if using caramels, or 1/3 c. milk if using topping
1 box German chocolate cake mix or reg. chocolate cake mix
3/4 c. softened butter
1 c. nuts
12 oz. chocolate chips
Combine cake mix, 1/3 cup milk and soft butter. Blend until mixture holds together. Stir in nuts. Press 1/2 of mixture into greased 13 by 9 inch pan. Bake for 6 minutes at 350 degrees. Remove and sprinkle on chips, pour melted caramels plus 1/3 cup milk, or topping evenly on top. Crumble remaining mixture over top and bake at 350 degrees for 20 minutes. Cool and serve.
COUNTING MY GIFTS

That is a pretty tree indeed with the blooms. Glad to hear your son continues to improve. I hope soon your house will officially go through for the owners and it will be one less concern for yiu. I agree on keeping track of an empty house. A lot of homeless people break into empty houses for sale here and sleep in them at night.

Just when I think I'm much too old to be 'going for broke' for anything, you've just shown us a couple good examples. So glad DS#1 continues to improve!
I hadn't thought of them for years and years -- but your mention of caramel makes me remember bags of little cellophane-wrapped squares my mother would bring home every so often. I'm going to have to look the next time I'm at the grocers.
Go for broke? No thanks, I am already there!
Hey, no worries, just eat caramel! :-)
