ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Books are the quietest and most constant of friends, and the most patient of teachers.
Charles W. Eliot
I do love to read and have spent many happy hours in our local public library, so this is a holiday I’ll be celebrating. Books take us to places we could never go and provide a wealth of information. My own personal library has decreased in size as I now read on my Kindle. But I always have a book in progress and another waiting to be read.
We have a chance of rain this morning but then it is supposed to clear. Partly cloudy skies are in the forecast for the next few days. I was able to mow the yard here yesterday. It’s still very wet with some standing water in the yard, but I simple went around that. The grass was only high in a few places but I got it evened out.
It feels so good just to be outside. Today I may get the patio furniture cleaned up so I can move it to the enclosed patio room. I have a feeling I’ll be spending a lot of time out there in the days ahead.
I hope you all have a TERRIFIC Tuesday!
WHAT’S NEW IN THE KITCHEN
There is a food holiday to celebrate every day of the year!
It’s National Cheese Fondue Day! Cheese fondue originated in Switzerland at the beginning of the 19th century. Based on the simple ingredients. melted cheese and whatever leftovers you want to use for dipping. It can be vegetables or bread…whatever you choose.
CHEDDAR CHEESE FONDUE
1/4 c. butter
1/4 c. flour
2 c. milk
1/2 tsp. salt
Dash pepper
1/2 tsp. garlic powder
1/4 c. sliced green onion
2 1/2 c. Wisconsin sharp Cheddar cheese
Shred the cheese and set aside. With the butter, flour, milk, salt and pepper, make your white sauce. Now add the green onion and cheese, stirring until the cheese is melted. Serve in a fondue pot, with a low flame under it, or another vessel so as to keep the fondue hot. With fondue forks, dip chunks of crusty bread in it.
COUNTING MY GIFTS
Just the knowledge that a good book is awaiting one at the end of a long day makes that day happier.
Kathleen Norris
Counting at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for. There is truly is always something to be thankful for.

Always a good feeling to get the grass mowed. I too love to read and read on my tablet. So many good books out there!

Love, LOVE that picture of the doggie at the top Pam! Made me smile. I love the Library. I have always been a keen supporter of the local library and a great user of the same. Nowadays, though, like you I mostly read on my kindle. Much easier for me to hold. I do love the feel and smell of a book however. Your recipe for cheese fondue brings back lots of lovely memories of fondue parties back in the 19 70's/80's! Fun, fun! Have a great day! xoxo
There is no place like a library, I love all of them which have been a part of my life. I feel lost when I don't visit at least once a week, seems almost like going to church on Sunday. If you miss, it's not the same. I hope all is going well with you, enjoy that patio room!
I've always loved the library. I feel like I'm getting away with something sneaky when I leave with bags full of books. (I DO return them!!!) Thanks for your posts MA.
Some of my favorite memories include mother taking me (as a little child) to the local library. When I was old enough to get my own card - and walk myself! - I felt pretty darn proud. Good times.
