ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Life is a Special Occasion!

Today is Tell a Story Day which celebrates story telling of all kinds. It doesn't matter if its fiction or nonfiction, a tall tale, or folk lore. Today is a day to tell 'em all. Stories can be from a book, other written material, or from memory.
If you can't see the Bright Side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Tell me a fact and I'll learn. Tell me a truth and I'll believe. But tell me a story and it will live in my heart forever.
Indian Proverb
Of all the stories told, I think sharing family stories are the most important. Memories are fleeting. Some things we remember in detail, others not so much. It always amazes me when my family gets together just what one remembers and another may not.
The more we tell the stories, the longer they remain in our memories and it’s nice to pass them along to our children and grandchildren. Keeping a family tree should be more than just names and dates.
It’s hard to believe that April is almost at an end. Next Monday we’ll be welcoming in the month of May. This year is flying by and I for one cannot believe what this year has brought our way so far. Believe me when I say it’s not been easy at all. But taking one day at a time and trying to make the most of it seems the best way to go.
The little brown bird in the picture above reminds me daily that God is always watching over us. The pictures below are my attempts at putting some red white and blue into the decor here for the month of May.
I hope you all have a GREAT day. Happy Thursday!
WHAT’S NEW IN THE KITCHEN
There is a food holiday to celebrate every day of the year!
It’s National Prime Rib Day which is great for the holidays or special occasions. It’s a rare treat for me and one I always enjoy.
I found this recipe to share with you all. I haven’t tried it out, but it sounds as if it just might be a good one.
ROAST PRIME RIB OF BEEF
3 rib roast of beef, 6 to 7 lb.
1 tbsp. flour
1 tsp. dry mustard
1 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. pepper
Preheat oven to 325°F.
Wipe roast with damp paper towels. Combine flour, mustard, salt and pepper. Rub all over beef. Place roast, fat side up, with ribs as rack, in roasting pan. . Roast, uncovered, 3 to 3 1/4 hours or until thermometer registers 140 degrees for rare, or 4 1/4 hours, 160 degrees, medium.
Let roast stand 15 to 20 minutes for easier carving. Serve au jus or with brown gravy.
Makes 7 to 8 servings.

It certainly has been a hard year so far for you, Ma, but I agree that the year is speeding by. It is funny here how hubby will tell an event and its totally different than I would say it. We indeed have our own perspective about what happened.

I love your little birds! We love telling family stories here! We have some great memories of my brother, Fred, who just died this month. And many stories were told at his graveside as part of the service. It was wonderful!
Being an 'only' child, I've no-one to refute my memories (LOL). Still, every time we get together, my son and I enjoy retelling my parents' stories. Hopefully, the grands are listening!
I've never tried making a prime rib but this sounds relatively simple ... and delicious.
Oh Ma! I am so sorry about your son. Since I had not been reading blogs much after the sudden loss of my brother the first part of April I missed seeing this! I cannot imagine what you are feeling!! God is good and he will carry us through our grief! I know that you will trust in HIM! I am just so sorry! (And I somehow missed all that about your house not selling! You know what they say about When it Rains!!) Sending you much love and virtual hugs!
