WELCOME APRIL!
The month of April is National Humor Month, International Guitar Month, Keep America Beautiful Month, Lawn and Garden Month, National Kite Month, National Poetry Month, National Pecan Month, National Welding Month, Records and Information Management Month and Stress Awareness Month.
Today is April Fool's Day which is an opportunity for playing jokes or tricks on one another. The stranger and the more absurd the better. The challenge is to carry out a trick that is believable, if only for a little while. Tricks are most successful if played earlier in the day before a person is wise to what is going on.
Jokes and gags must be harmless and fun. They must not be dangerous or hurt anyone's feelings. Give your jokes and gags some thought before carrying them out. Then, have fun!
If you can't see the Bright Side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Here cometh April again, and as far as I can see the world hath more fools in it than ever.
Charles Lamb
The weather here often plays the biggest joke on us this time of year. It’s a time when nature fools us with the sudden changes between showers and sunshine. But so far it’s looking like typical April weather for us with some more rain in the forecast.
I know I’ve been fooled more than once on April fools day. A day mixed with fun and laughter can’t be all bad. So I’m not complaining. Just watch out what you believe today…it may be a joke. I could tell you I won the lottery, but April Fool, I didn’t even buy a ticket ! Ha !
I hope you all have a SUPER Saturday!
WHAT’S NEW IN THE KITCHEN
There is a food holiday to celebrate every day of the year!
Today is Sourdough Bread Day!
Sourdough bread makes for a great grilled sandwich and I found a recipe to share for a tasty sandwich
today.
PATTY MELTS
1 stick Butter
1 whole Large Onion, Halved And Sliced
1 1/2 pound Ground Beef
Salt And Pepper, to taste
5 dashes Worcestershire Sauce
8 slices Swiss Cheese
8 slices Bread
In a medium skillet, melt 2 tablespoons of butter over medium low heat. Throw in the sliced onions and cook slowly for 20 to 25 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the onions are golden brown and soft.
In a medium bowl, mix together the ground beef, salt and pepper, and Worcestershire. Form into 4 patties.
Melt 2 tablespoons butter in a separate skillet over medium heat. Cook the patties on both sides until totally done in the middle.
Assemble patty melts: Slice of bread, slice of cheese, hamburger patty, 1/4 of the cooked onions, another slice of cheese, and another slice of bread. On a clean griddle or in a skillet, melt 2 tablespoons butter and grill the sandwiches over medium heat until golden brown. Remove the sandwiches and add the remaining 2 tablespoons of butter to the skillet. Turn the sandwiches to the skillet, flipping them to the other side. Cook until golden brown and crisp, and until cheese is melted.
Slice in half and serve immediately. Makes 4 servings
COUNTING MY GIFTS
Ah, well, I am a great and sublime fool. But then I am God's fool, and all His work must be contemplated with respect.
Mark Twain
Counting at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for. There is truly is always something to be thankful for.
4780. for a new month
4781. for all God’s creatures, great and small
4782. for sandwiches, quick and easy
Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!
ADVICE FOR TODAY
You can fool all the people some of the time, and some of the people all the time, but you cannot fool all the people all the time.
Abraham Lincoln
A little smile, a word of cheer,
A bit of love from someone dear…
Love,
ma

I've probably already said so before ... but those ceramic rabbits are so adorable!
Sure and I probably played my share of tricks as a kid, but not so fond of AFD nowadays.
Patty Melts are one of my most favorite meals!! ... especially with lots of mayonnaise. I've never attempted to make them here at home. Yet.
I have not had any fools pranks played in my home since the children grew up. It used to be a lot of fun for them. I actually forgot it was April Fools day until halfway through the day. My brain ain't what it used to be! We had a rule in my home, pranks and jokes only until mid morning and they mustn't be injurous to anyone. Lots of fun. Ohh boy, that Patty Melt sounds fabulous! I must give it a go! Love and hugs. xoxo
