Life is a Special Occasion!

Today is Workaholics Day! By definition, a workaholic is a person addicted to their work. While dedication is certainly an admirable trait, a healthy work life balance is also important.
For all the workaholics of the world, today is the day to step back and take it easy. Take an afternoon nap or read a book. You’ll have plenty of time to finish your work tomorrow!
For everyone else, today is the perfect opportunity to celebrate the workaholics in your life and to recognize all they have accomplished.
Happy Workaholics Day!
If you can't see the Bright Side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Good for the body is the work of the body, good for the soul the work of the soul, and good for either the work of the other.
Henry David Thoreau
There is absolutely nothing wrong with a good honest hard day of work. We all need to work in order to make a living. Work is important but it isn’t everything. Putting work ahead of family and friends is never a good thing. Making sure you have time for the important things in life is and always has been a priority for me.
Now I’m retired and what little work I do is of my choosing. Loving what you do makes work a pleasure. All work and no play can be harmful to your mental and physical health. It can leave our brains feeling as frayed as the corners of your childhood blanket.
Do what you love and love what you do and make time for the important things in life.
I hope you all have a TERRIFIC Tuesday !
WHAT’S NEW IN THE KITCHEN
There is a food holiday to celebrate every day of the year!
National Apple Turnover Day
Like easily portable, hand held little apple pies, apple turnovers are an elegant taste treat that fit well on dining table dessert plates or in workday lunchboxes. It's nice when scrumptious pastry like this gets its own day.
QUICK APPLE TURNOVERS
3 apples, peeled and diced
3 cans Crescent rolls
3/4 c. brown sugar
3 tbsp. flour
3/4 tsp. cinnamon
pinch of ginger
dash of nutmeg
Combine last 5 ingredients and mix with diced apples. Separate Crescent rolls; place a large tablespoon of apple mixture in each roll and fold over each side
Place on ungreased cookie sheet.
Bake at 350°F for 20-25 minutes
GLAZE TOPPING:
2 tsp. warm milk
a drop of vanilla
1/2 c. powdered sugar
Drizzle topping over each roll while still hot. Adjust icing to pouring consistency by adding more sugar if it's too thin or more milk if it's too thick.
Makes 24.
COUNTING MY GIFTS
Work is not always required. There is such a thing as sacred idleness.
George MacDonald
Counting at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for. There is truly is always something to be thankful for.
4012. for rest, you have to take care of yourself if you want to be good for others
4013. for work, I love what I do
4014. for crescent rolls, so many different ways to use them
Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU ALL !

So true about crescent rolls and the different ways you can fix them. Someone brought a dessert to our gathering a few days ago made out of crescent rolls. They looked delicious (and those that had one said they were). A good balance between work and play is needed indeed!

I used to be a work aholic! Not a good balance for life. I love desserts that are made with crescent rolls. I need to make these!
