Life is a Special Occasion!
Hallmark
Today is Build a Scarecrow Day. He will help to keep birds out of your garden.
Scarecrows are built to stand out in the garden to scare crows and other birds away. The crops are out growing in the field during the summer months. So, if you're going to build a scarecrow for your garden, the time is now.
Sometimes the scarecrow does his job quite effectively. The birds think someone is in the garden, and they stay away. Other times, they know better. When you see a bird resting upon a scarecrow, you can be pretty certain that the bird has not been fooled.

THOUGHT FOR TODAY
It is a golden maxim to cultivate the garden for the nose, and the eyes will take care of themselves.
Robert Louis Stevenson
I have put out scarecrows in the garden, with little or no success. I’ve even tied cans or tin foil pans to the arms and still haven’t managed to scare the crows away. Still and all they are a fun and festive way to decorate your garden.
We’re having a mild and pleasant weekend here in Ohio. Cooler nights have made sleeping really nice too. But it’s to heat up here this coming week so enjoy it while we can.
I hope you all have a RELAXING Sunday !
WHAT’S NEW IN THE KITCHEN
There is a food holiday to celebrate every day of the year!
Happy National Chocolate Wafer Day! These crispy, sweet snacks are an American favorite. With their waffle surface pattern and thin layers, they can often be found accompanied with ice cream or cooked into other baked goods.
If you've ever enjoyed Oreos before, you've also been enjoying a delicious chocolate wafer. Making them at home is easy with this recipe.

PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!

I like to look at scarecrows, they are always fun to see, but I do wonder how effective they are in keeping the crows and other animals out of gardens, etc.
betty
I always wondered if the scarecrows really worked. Still, they're a neat part of Americana.
I know folks who use ceramic owls to keep the pigeon population at bay ... usually to no avail.
Have yourself a great 4th!
