82 DAYS UNTIL FALL
Sunrise: 6:00 am
Life is a Special Occasion!
Hallmark
Today is I Forgot Day which is by definition, not a day to remember. Some days are days to remember and to cherish all of our lives. Others, like today, are ones to be forgotten. If you are having a bad day, it's just as well that today is I Forgot Day.
Some people view today as an opportunity to express their regrets for forgetting something, and to make amends. They do so by sending cards and flowers, apologizing for their memory lapse. The trouble is, if you forget something important
tomorrow, you have to wait a whole year for the next I Forgot Day to arrive.
If you can't see the Bright Side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Did you ever stop to think, and forget to start again?
A.A. Milne
I use my calendar in order not to forget things. I make lots of notes to remind myself so that I don’t forget important dates. But I’m only human and have forgotten lots of things.
Did you know that according to some studies, walking through door can create memory lapses? Psychologists believe that this is because when people walk through a door from one room to another, the transition indicates to the brain that the scene has changed and all information gathered in the previous room or scenario is no longer needed.
Our minds are very mysterious.
I hope you all have a SUPER Saturday !
WHAT’S NEW IN THE KITCHEN
There is a food holiday to celebrate every day of the year!
Today is National Anisette Day
Anisette is a clear, sweet liqueur made with anise seeds which give it a strong licorice flavor. Anisette is often used to enhance the flavor of licorice candy and is most known for the very distinct taste. The most delicious form of Anisette is the cookies. Try this easy to make recipe below and enjoy the day!
Anisette Cookies
For cookies:
4 cups flour
1 cup white sugar
1/2 cup milk
2 eggs
1 tablespoon baking powder
3/4 cup vegetable oil
1 tablespoon anise extract
For Icing:
1 teaspoon anise extract
1 cup confectioners’ sugar
2 tablespoons hot water
Preheat oven to 375 degrees. In large bowl, mix flour, baking powder and white sugar. Make a hole in the center and add oil, milk, 1 tablespoon anise extract, and eggs. Mix together until dough is sticky.
Pinch off dough in 1 inch pieces. Roll into a ball and place on a lightly greased cookie sheet, 1 inch apart, flatten top slightly. Bake for 8 minutes. Dip cookies in Icing. It’s best to do this while dough is warm.
To Make Icing: Blend in 1 teaspoon anise extract and enough hot water to 1 cup confectioner’s sugar to form a smooth icing. You can put sprinkles on top if desired.
COUNTING MY GIFTS
As we express our gratitude, we must never forget that the highest appreciation is not to utter words, but to live by them.
John Fitzgerald Kennedy
Counting at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for. There is truly is always something to be thankful for.
4003. for my calendar, it helps keep me on track
4004. for cookies, homemade are the best
4005.for the important people in my life, my family and my friends
Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!
ADVICE FOR TODAY
You really shouldn't say I love you unless you mean it. But if you mean it, you should say it a lot. People forget.

A little smile, a word of cheer,
A bit of love from someone dear…
Love,

I use my calendar for everything. Everything I ever need to remember makes it to my calendar. Have a happy day!!
I have heard that about walking through a door can make you forget things; that is interesting but it happens to me all the time. I've learned over the years to make more lists to do things to make sure everything gets done :)
betty
Last Saturday, our A/C died in our house. This Saturday, the car wouldn't start.
I am very thankful that both of these things didn't happen on the same day!!
See, there is always something to be thankful for!!
xx
P.S. I wanted to say I like the I FORGET DAY but you guessed it, I forgot! HA!!
That's pretty neat about walking through a door then forgetting. From where my desk is situated, I witness folks doing that at least once each week! (... and I'm thankful, they're younger than me!)
I'd not thought of anisette in years, but my grandmother used to make the yummiest (German) cookies -- rock hard and perfect for dunking in hot coffee ... which, of course, totally enhanced the anisette flavor.
THose cookies sound delicious Pam. I love the flavour of Anise. I am bookmarking the recipe. I learned a lot about forgetfulness from your post today. I am lucky if I can remember what I am saying by the time I get to the end of my sentences! ha ha! I hope that is normal! :-/ Oh well! Have a fabulous Sunday and a very sweet 4th of July! xoxo
