Life is a Special Occasion!
Hallmark
Today is National Give Something Away Day which gives us an opportunity to share some of our bounty. Whether we choose to buy a meal for someone, serving our community, donate new shoes or a coat to someone less fortunate or give flowers to brighten someone confined to their home, giving something away will have a positive impact.
If you can't see the Bright Side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
You make a living by what you get, but you make a life by what you give.
Author Unknown
I have always thought that it is more blessed to give than to receive. The giver is always happier than the receiver. I love to give things away. Whether it’s my time, money, or talent, it’s a great feeling! If there is something I have that will make another happy, I’ll give it gladly.
This coming weekend is our family 3rd Sunday dinner. It’s my time to fix dinner for any of my family that can come. That makes me happy for sure. We’re supposed to have some very nice weather this coming Sunday so it’s going to hot dogs at the park instead of dinner around the table here at home.
For a few days we are to be cooler with temps in the lower 80’s and not in the 90’s. I know it’s summer but we are just not used to such hot weather.
I hope you all have a FANTASTIC Friday !
WHAT’S NEW IN THE KITCHEN
There is a food holiday to celebrate every day of the year!
It’s Gummy Worm Day!
Gummy candies have been around a while, but nothing strikes our fancy like a rich chocolate brownie topped with green frosting and a gummy work sticking out of it!
My mom used to make Dirt Pudding and that had Gummy Worms in it too. So today I’m sharing that recipe.
Dirt Pudding!
28 crushed Oreo cookies
1/2 c. butter, melted
Pour over cookie crumbs in a 9 x 13 inch baking dish.
8 oz. cream cheese
8 oz. Cool Whip
1 c. powdered sugar
Mix well; spread over cookies.
1 sm. box each; vanilla and chocolate instant pudding
3 c. milk
Mix well and pour over second layer.
8 oz. Cool Whip
Spread over third layer. Sprinkle with cookie crumbs. Chill. For a more festive look, dirt pudding can be made in flower pot and served with a trowel. Some even like to add gummy worms.
COUNTING MY GIFTS
Two kinds of gratitude: The sudden kind we feel for what we take; the larger kind we feel for what we give.
Edwin Arlington Robinson
Counting at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for. There is truly is always something to be thankful for.
4042. for giving, better than receiving for me
4043. for delightful summer days to enjoy
4044. for chocolate pudding and Oreos, makes for a delicious dessert
Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU ALL !
ADVICE FOR TODAY
You give but little when you give of your possessions. It is when you give of yourself that you truly give.
Kahlil Gibran
A little smile, a word of cheer,
A bit of love from someone dear…
Love,

I remember making dirt pudding when the kids were young! I'll have to remember this in the years head. Hot dogs at the park sound like so much fun for Sunday!

Lovely post Pam! Hot dogs in the park sound like the perfect dinner to me! I have never made Dirt Pudding, but always wanted to. I wish I lived closer to my grands, then I could treat them! Have a lovely weekend and a great dinner in the park! xoxo
