Life is a Special Occasion!
Hallmark
February 4th is Thank a Mailman Day. It's our chance to say thanks to the guy, or gal, who delivers our mail. After all, they are there six days a week. The reliable postal worker is always there doing their job, regardless of the weather. They are a hardy lot. So Thank a Mailman today!
If you can't see the Bright Side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night stays these couriers from the swift completion of their appointed rounds
Inscription on the James Farley Post Office in New York City
I am very thankful for my mail men and women. I’ve had both over the years and they’ve all done an excellent job. They get all those birthday cards I send out to where they need to go. We do have a couple of February birthdays in the family, but not until later on in the month. Before they happen, there will be Valentines going out in the mail. I think it’s important to let those we care about know just how much they mean to us and I like to take advantage of the special occasions in life to do so.
I think it’s important to keep in touch, to keep the lines of communication open, and sending out cards is one of the ways I do it. For some folks, a phone call feels like an intrusion onto their time and space. For others, an email might seem cold. I can’t be there in person for many of my children but they know that I care and that they are always in my thoughts and prayers.
Today is also National Homemade Soup Day and I found a new to me recipe to share.
Crockpot Italian Meatball Soup
12-16 Meatballs, can use frozen
6 cups chicken or vegetable broth
1 cup cooked chicken, chopped
1⁄2 cup carrot, diced
1⁄2 cup celery, diced
2 ounces frozen chopped spinach, defrosted
garlic salt, to taste
pepper, to taste
add in the last hour: 1⁄4 cup acini di pepe pasta
add when serving: 1/2 tsp shredded parmesan cheese
Cook on low 4-6 hours
Yesterday was in the 50’s here but very windy. For a few brief moments I went out and sat on the back step and soaked up the warmth of the sunshine. It didn’t last long, but it was wonderful. Today is to be colder with a chance of snow.
I hope you all have a GREAT day! Happy Thursday !

We ask this through Christ our Lord.

ADVICE FOR TODAY
A friendship can weather most things and thrive in thin soil; but it needs a little mulch of letters and phone calls and small, silly presents every so often - just to save it from drying out completely.

A little smile, a word of cheer,
A bit of love from someone dear…

That looked like a great recipe for the soup; relatively easy too to put together. I think it is great how you keep in touch with your family that live away from you through birthday cards and other special occasion day cards; it is an art that I think will fade over time with the way technology is these days. I agree that a phone call can be so intrusive, I think that's why a lot of people tend to text these days since someone can answer the text almost at their leisure.

That soup looks gorgeous Pam! I love soup on a cold day. I also like the idea of thank a Mailman day. They do such great work for us and in all kinds of weather! Like you, I don' think anything can replace the joy of getting a card in the post! Have a lovely Friday! And God bless your weekend. Thanks for all that you share with us. You are a National Treasure I think! xoxo
