38 DAYS UNTIL SPRING

Life is a Special Occasion!

Today is Ash Wednesday which is the first day of the season of Lent and a sign of penitence. During Lent, many fast and give up things they like. The Lenten season lasts for 40 days.
On Ash Wednesday, we receive ashes on our foreheads in the sign of the cross. It is a reminder of 'Ashes to Ashes and Dust to Dust'. It means that we came from dust and we shall return to dust, referring to our earthly bodies, not our souls.
Did you Know? The ashes you receive are from the prior years palms.

THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Ash Wednesday a day that reminds us were not here forever, and challenges us to live the very best everyday.

For me Lent is all about getting ready for Easter. We prepare our hearts, our souls, our spirits, to celebrate Easter. Ash Wednesday is a reminder to get our life in order. The ashen cross on our foreheads serves as a symbol of a very touching paradox of our faith: God brings life out of the sin and suffering. It signifies that He did this with every heavy step Jesus took toward the cross and that He does this with us, with every burdened and broken step we take in this life.
There is a bright side to Ash Wednesday. All that I love and care for is mortal and transitory, but mortality is the inspiration to celebration and love. Ash Wednesday causes us to pause, notice, wake up, and discover the beauty and love in each day and to appreciate God’s grandeur, all the beauty, wonder, and grace, and the good news of walking with beauty all around us.
If you make this a great Lent you will notice the difference on Easter Sunday.
I hope you all have a WONDERFUL Wednesday !
