41 DAYS UNTIL SPRING
Sunrise: 7:35 am

Life is a Special Occasion!
Hallmark
Today Super Bowl Sunday! It's the second biggest snack day of the year. Second only to New Years Eve. Sit down and tune in to the most watched game of the year. Even casual sports fans take part. After all, watching the great ads and the super Halftime show, are as much a part of the game as the game itself. Many spouses readily admit, they watch the superbowl just to see the ads.
If you can't see the Bright Side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
The truth is the Super Bowl long ago became more than just a football game. It's part of our culture like turkey at Thanksgiving and lights at Christmas, and like those holidays beyond their meaning, a factor in our economy.

I have to admit that I’m not much of a football fan but do enjoy some of the ads and seeing the halftime shows too. So at some point, I’ll probably watch the Super Bowl. I’ve noticed that snacking is a big part of today’s celebration so I’ve done some searching on a new recipe to indulge in. Very often some snacks can make a meal for me.
I found a recipe for Pepperoni Bread which resembles one of my families favorites, Sausage Bread in that it uses frozen bread dough, and just maybe I’ll make for my snack/meal today. I have frozen bread dough in the freezer that needs to be used.
Pepperoni Bread
1 loaf frozen bread dough
1 stick pepperoni, peeled and sliced thinly
4 oz. mozzarella cheese, shredded
1 egg
1 teaspoon parsley
1 teaspoon oregano
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
4 oz. mushrooms, sliced, optional
Sesame seeds
Thaw bread dough according to package directions. Pre-heat oven to 375 degrees. Spray cooking oil on a cookie sheet. Spread dough out almost to the edges of the cookie sheet.
Mix together the egg and all seasonings, not sesame seeds Spread 1/2 of this mixture on the bread dough. Place a two row layer of pepperoni down the center of the bread dough. Add sliced mushrooms. Add mozzarella cheese.
Pull up the sides of the bread, and crimp or pinch together. Turn crimped side over so it is on the bottom. Do this carefully, as the crimping can open up. Spread remaining egg mixture on top of the dough. Generously sprinkle sesame seeds on top.
Bake at 375 degrees for 25 minutes.
Serving bread hot is best, but Pepperoni bread is also good cold. I’m thinking it might be a good idea to also have some extra pizza sauce on hand for dipping !
This recipe makes enough sauce for 3 or 4 full size pizzas and you can freeze what you don’t use
1 tablespoon olive oil
2 cloves garlic, minced
¼ cup red wine, optional
1 28 oz can crushed tomatoes
1 small can tomato paste
1 tablespoon honey or sugar
1 teaspoon each of oregano, basil, and thyme, or 1 tablespoon Italian seasoning
salt and pepper, to taste
Heat oil in a medium saucepan on medium high heat and saute the garlic for one minute. Add wine and simmer for 2 minutes, or until wine has reduced by half. Add remaining ingredients and heat through. Taste and adjust seasonings if necessary.
The pictures today are of the first Thanksgiving mud bowl for my family a couple of years ago. Kids of all ages having some fun!
I hope you all have a RELAXING Sunday !
COUNTING MY GIFTS
In life, as in football, you won't go far unless you know where the goalposts are.
Arnold H. Glasow

Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU !
ADVICE FOR TODAY
You may not win the Super Bowl. Your kids may not go on to be doctors and lawyers and everything may not go perfectly. That doesn't mean it was a bad plan or the wrong thing. It's just like a football season. Everything's not going to go perfect.
Tony Dungy
A little smile, a word of cheer,
A bit of love from someone dear…
Love,

I never thought I could make my own pepperoni bread, but I will be sure to try it, we have a nearby bakery (by the library) that makes really good ones called Jack's Bakery. They never sell out of those, but just try to get a cinnamon roll two minutes after 11 am. Ha!
That pepperoni bread recipe sounders delightfully easy! I'm going to clip this for next Thanksgiving, as it's already growing too warm I don't want to turn on the oven.
How fun with the mud bowl of your family :)
Good thing I didn't see this recipe before we went to the store to get our snacks; I think I might have been tempted to make it :) The store was extra crowded today when we went, I'm thinking lots of snacks will be consumed during the game :)
