Life is a Special Occasion!
Hallmark
Oh, for Pete’s sake! Not another pointless holiday?
Today is Pete’s Sake Day, which celebrates one example of a ‘minced oath’, where an offensive word or phrase is substituted by something more acceptable in society. Other examples include ‘For crying out loud!’, and ‘Sugar!’. Such euphemisms have been used for centuries whenever people hit thumbs with hammers, burn hands on hot plates, or sit on sharp things while in polite company.
In the case of this particular minced oath, Pete is likely to refer to St Peter. However, if there’s a Pete in your life, why not do something for his sake? It doesn’t have to be much, making him a cup of tea or a nice sandwich would be good! If you don’t happen to know anyone named Pete, perhaps you can celebrate by saying ‘For Pete’s Sake’ whenever you get an opportunity.

THOUGHT FOR TODAY
The kindest word in all the world is the unkind word, unsaid.
Author Unknown
I am one that would definitely rather use a phrase like For Pete’s Sake, rather than an offensive word any time. I’ve even occasions when I’ve resorted to my own sort of gibberish when I’m upset rather than to use hurtful words.
Our words can hurt others more than we know and being careful about what we say is important. There are always better ways to express ourselves when we are angry or upset.
Words are powerful. Use them carefully. They can heal as well as hurt. They can build up or tear down. Use them with caution.
I hope you all have a FANTASTIC Friday !
COUNTING MY GIFTS
Thankfulness is the beginning of gratitude. Gratitude is the completion of thankfulness. Thankfulness may consist merely of words. Gratitude is shown in acts.
Henri Frederic Amiel
Counting at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for. There is truly is always something to be thankful for.
3625. for words, using good ones is always better
3626. for a visit with both my sisters this week, always good
3627. for weather radio advisories, even when they wake me up at 3:30 in the morning
Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!
ADVICE FOR TODAY
Soft words win hard hearts.
Proverb
A little smile, a word of cheer,
A bit of love from someone dear…
Love,

I tend to use "crying out loud" a lot, which is a lot better than some other things that sometimes go through my head with words. I'll have to try to remember to say "For Pete's sake" if the occasion comes up today :)
