Life is a Special Occasion!
Hallmark
Today is National Work Like a Dog Day. The English language is often confusing. Take, for instance, two common idioms we use in our everyday lives: 'It’s a dog’s life’ and 'Work like a dog.'
'It’s a dog’s life’ refers to dogs being able to laze around and sleep all day, having no worries or issues more pressing than dinner time. 'Work like a dog,' on the other hand, suggests just the opposite. It means working to your maximum ability for an extended length of time. Today’s holiday most likely refers to actual working dogs. Sheep dogs and sled dogs are good examples. They are bred to work hard, working even gives them pleasure.
On Work Like a Dog Day. You can celebrate by either working very hard, or if you’d rather, napping the day away.
If you can't see the Bright Side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY

More than not these days you will find me napping rather than working. I do remember the days though that I really did a lot of work and some of it I even enjoyed. Working at something you love to do though really never seems like work.
I used to imagine how great life was going to be after I retired. I’d get so much more done here at home. I’d do all those things I never had time for before. But I learned that in order to retire, I also had to get older. And for me getting older means that we slow down and take time to enjoy the things that really matter in life. I probably got a lot more done when I was working, but now I’m enjoying what I do a whole lot more.
You don’t have to be older like me to slow down a bit and enjoy what matters. When what you do is for those that matter, it doesn’t matter what work you do. Just that you are doing it for what matters.
I hope you all have a WONDERFUL Wednesday !
COUNTING MY GIFTS
God gave us two ends — one to sit on and one to think with. Success depends on which one you use. Head you win, tail you lose.

Counting at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for. There is truly is always something to be thankful for.
3007. for days to spend working at whatever I want to
3008. for getting older and still be able to enjoy life
3009. for comfy sandals that keep my feet cool too
Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU ALL !

It is so true about those 2 sayings with the dog; I hadn't thought how they contradict each other until you mentioned them side by side here, Ma. We used to "envy" Koda for having a dog's life of sleeping and being taken care of, but his breed was bred specifically for herding cattle and sheep. I do enjoy when I can take a nap during the day; always wake up a bit refreshed :)

Well, my hubby and I have worked like dogs in the back garden this morning. The heat and humidity are the worst culprits but the yard looks wonderful. There is something so special about a beautiful yard. Thank You, God.
Have a special and blessed day. I'm so envious of your cooler mornings. Enjoy.
