Life is a Special Occasion!

It’s National Marshmallow Toasting Day ! Enjoy today or tonight by a campfire, toasting a big, soft, sticky and sweet marshmallow, or two, or three. Summer would not be the same without a campfire and this great campfire treat. Summer is short. Summer is good. Let's enjoy it while it is still here. Toast a marshmallow and forget about everything else.
And, don't forget to make a few S'mores. The recipe is below.
If you can't see the Bright Side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
The fire is the main comfort of the camp, whether in summer or winter, and is about as ample at one season as at another. It is as well for cheerfulness as for warmth and dryness.
Henry David Thoreau
S'mores Recipe
Chocolate candy bar
Honey Graham Crackers
Marshmallows
Break off a square of Graham cracker
Add a piece of Chocolate.
Toast a big marshmallow over the campfire.
Add the hot marshmallow.
Top it with another graham Cracker.
Eat , savor and enjoy!
Note: You can make S'mores in the microwave. Just put them together and pop them into the microwave on high for 15 to 20 seconds.
Toasted Marshmallows are delicious and their sweet gooey goodness is one of my favorites. I was blessed to have one this summer but have found several dessert ideas that include s'mores cupcakes, s'mores cookies, s'mores cheesecake, and more and so I though I share one of them with you today
S'mores Bars
For graham cracker crust:
2 cups graham cracker crumbs
1/4 cup granulated sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup butter, melted
For chocolate fudge:
3 cups semisweet chocolate chips
1 14-ounce can sweetened condensed milk
1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
For marshmallow topping:
2 cups marshmallow fluff
2 cups mini marshmallows
Preheat oven to 350°F. Make the graham cracker crust layer: In a large bowl, mix together the graham cracker crumbs, sugar, salt, and melted butter. Transfer to a 9 by 13 pan, spread out the crumbs in an even layer, and press into the pan firmly to create a crust. Bake for 10 minutes or until the top is golden brown.
Make the marshmallow layer: Evenly spread marshmallow fluff on top of the chocolate layer, and then sprinkle with mini marshmallows. Use a kitchen torch to toast the marshmallows until golden brown or use your oven's broiler setting to toast the marshmallows for a few minutes. Make sure to keep a close eye on the marshmallows as they'll go from toasted to burnt quickly.
Freeze bars for a few minutes to set the marshmallow layer, and then cut into squares. Serve cold, and return any leftovers to the fridge to keep the bars' shape intact.
Any way you want to fix your s’mores is fine. They are good and tasty when you need a treat.
I hope you all have a restful and relaxing Sunday !

PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU ALL !
ADVICE FOR TODAY

Toasted marshmallows are heavenly!!! I love seeing the countdown to fall!! Fall is when we have fires here and roast marshmallows! That's another reason I love Fall!!
Yum on the toasted marshmallows and the s'mores! Both favorites of mine!
betty
Gosh, I've not enjoyed a toasted marshmallow in years ... since son built a little bonfire in their backyard one chilly November eve. Great memories this evoked!
Nope, never tried a s'more - but your bars recipe sounds yummy!
Oh I do love toasted marshmallows. It's been a very long time since I have had one. You can toast them over a candle or on the barbeque, but never as good as over a campfire for sure! I haven't had a smore in years. You can't get the graham crackers over here. I've tried digestives, but they just don't cut the mustard! xoxo
