Life is a Special Occasion!
Hallmark
August 21st is National Senior Citizens Day. On this day, Americans are encouraged to honor and recognize the countless contributions and sacrifices senior citizens have made throughout their lives to their families, communities and the nation.
In his Presidential Proclamation, August 19, 1988, President Ronald Reagan said, For all they have achieved throughout life and for all they continue to accomplish, we owe older citizens our thanks and a heartfelt salute. We can best demonstrate our gratitude and esteem by making sure that our communities are good places in which to mature and grow older.

THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Aging can be fun if you lay back and enjoy it.
Clint Eastwood
They say a senior citizen is anyone older than 60 years of age, but this seems relatively young in today’s society! I’m a senior citizen and have been for a while now, but don’t really consider myself old. People are definitely living longer these days and I know quite a few older than me, that are living a very happy and meaningful life.
There are many benefits to getting older and one of them is the discounts given to seniors, but there really are lot more that just that. For me it’s meant that I could finally retire from work and be able to spend my time any way I want to. I like living life in the slow lane. I love to do so many different things that there is never a dull moment here at my house.
We’ve finally cooled down a bit here in northern Ohio and today is supposed to be in the mid 70’s, ideal temps in my books. Maybe I’ll get outside and deal with some of the weeds in the flower beds that seems to thrive in hot and humid weather. I’ve been lazy far too much this summer!
I hope you all have a FANTASTIC Friday !
COUNTING MY GIFTS
Grow old with me! The best is yet to be.

Counting at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for. There is truly is always something to be thankful for.

PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU ALL !
ADVICE FOR TODAY
You don't stop laughing when you grow old, you grow old when you stop laughing.
George Bernard Shaw
A little smile, a word of cheer,
A bit of love from someone dear…

I joke with hubby because there's a movie theater here that has seniors at age 62 (his age) so he gets the discount. Saves a few dollars. But we both got a laugh at the miniature golf place where seniors were 55 and over (both of us qualified for that discount). There are indeed advantages for being older; tend to be a bit wiser on making some decisions. Glad to hear the weather has cooled down a bit!

Back home you are considered a senior if you are over 55. You get the seniors discounts at the shops etc. Here I am not sure what it is. I tried to get a bus pass recently because I had turned 60 but was told I have to wait another two years. No old age pension until 67. I think I was born a couple of years too late, but am in no hurry to catch up! Have a lovely weekend! xoxo
