53 DAYS UNTIL WINTER
57 DAYS UNTIL CHRISTMAS

If you can't see the Bright Side, polish the dull side
It was on this date in 1815, that composer Daniel Decatur Emmett, whose many songs include ‘Dixie Land’, was born in town of Mount Vernon, Ohio, the seat of Knox County. One of his first compositions was ‘Old Dan Tucker’. Tucker was the name of his dog.
I wish I was in the land of cotton,
Old times there are not forgotten;
Look away! Look away! Look away
Look away Dixie Land…
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Music is what feelings sound like.
Author Unknown
I think music is important to most all of us. Many songs like 'Dixie Land’ tell stories of times past and we can learn a lot from them. I love to look into the history of hymns that have been written and discover the story behind the writers too.
Music can make us motivated or soothed or happy. There are also many things that are like music to my ears. Things that make me happy and make me want to sing. These are the things I put in my thankful list every day. My songs of praise. We all need a little music in our lives.
I don’t sing as much as I used to these days, but with the help of my little grand’babes’ I'm still singing. The tunes like Twinkle Twinkle little Star, and the ABC song never seem to grow old. Children do love music and I very often think we need to be more like them.
Today’s pictures are of the Halloween party DS#5 and his wife had for friends and family last Saturday.
I hope you all have a terrific Tuesday and maybe sing a song or two!
COUNTING MY GIFTS
Music washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life.
Berthold Auerbach
I have counted at least 3 things I'm thankful for this past year and have now reached my 1000 gifts. I'm not stopping, but will continue on counting. There is always, always something to be thankful for.
1082. for sweet sounds that are like music to my ears
1083. for being able to hear and enjoy it
1084. for songs that teach, inspire and motivate
Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Lord, hold our troops in
your loving hands.
Protect them as they protect us.
Bless them and their families for the
selfless acts they perform for us
in our time of need. I ask this in the
name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT's
GOD BLESS YOU ALL !
You are the music while the music lasts.
T.S. Eliot
A little smile, a word of cheer,
A bit of love from someone dear…
Love,
ma

Thank you MA. Love your post on music. It's such an integral part of my very existence -- worship, life memories, fun with friends and children, and a wonderful way to connect with my students. I could not live without music.
So cute pictures!! Almost time for a new grand to be born!
Music really is an integral part of our lives indeed. I know I mainly like to listen to praise music these days, but who can resist singing along with a little one some loved favorites!
