If you can't see the Bright Side, polish the dull side
On October 4, 1822, Rutherford Birchard Hayes was born in Delaware, Ohio. Rutherford B. Hayes became the nineteenth U.S. president in 1877. Hayes was the first president to host the Easter Egg Roll for children on the White House Lawn. Hayes died in 1893 at his Spiegel Grove estate in Fremont, Ohio.
History is who we are and why we are the way we are.

THOUGHT FOR TODAY
It's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice.
Author Unknown
I did get a chance to visit the Spiegel Grove Estate of President Hayes earlier this summer and put some pictures of it in my post at the time. It's great that lovely places like that have been maintained for the public to enjoy and to remember the great people that lived there. Not many of us will be remembered like our presidents are but still each one of us has an important job to do in life.
All of us whether we are rich and famous or poor and infamous can take the time to be nice to others as we go through life. Just as this president took the time to provide an Easter egg roll to public, we can do some nice things for others too. It doesn't cost a cent to be nice. It's something we can all do.
Being kind is a vital way of making our own lives, and the lives of others, meaningful. You'll never regret being nice to someone. Others may forget you, but they won't forget the way you made them feel.
Hope you all have a nice day and remember to spread a little kindness along the way.
Carve your name on hearts, not on marble.
Charles H. Spurgeon
COUNTING MY GIFTS
You don’t even miss a beat when gratitude to God is the beat of your heart.
Anne Voskamp
I have counted at least 3 things I'm thankful for this past year and have now reached my 1000 gifts. I'm not stopping, but will continue on counting. There is always, always something to be thankful for.

PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Lord, hold our troops in
your loving hands.
Protect them as they protect us.
Bless them and their families for the
selfless acts they perform for us
in our time of need. I ask this in the
name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT's
GOD BLESS YOU ALL !
Of all the things you wear, your expression is the most important.

I like that quote "Carve your name on hearts, not on marble". That is something to take to heart and to live by, Ma. And it is so true that we all can take the time to be nice to others throughout our days, even if it is just smiling at someone we pass along the way :)
