If you can't see the Bright Side, polish the dull side
On this date in 1934 Public Enemy #1, after the death of John Dillinger, Pretty Boy Floyd was slain. It happened on a farm near the Columbiana County town of East Liverpool, Ohio.
We learn our virtues from our friends who love us; our faults from the enemy who hates us. We cannot easily discover our real character from a friend. He is a mirror, on which the warmth of our breath impedes the clearness of the reflection.
Jean Paul Richter
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
There is nothing like staying at home for real comfort.
Jane Austen
I don't like to dwell on crime of any sort, but I was blessed to visit the town of East Liverpool this summer. It was the start of our trip along the Old Lincoln Highway. We traveled that highway from it's most eastern point to it's most western point in the state of Ohio. It's beautiful country and I enjoyed the trip.
Now that the colder days are setting in, there won't be much traveling at all done around here. I tend to keep inside and hibernate till the spring comes. Short trips to out to the grocery store, church, and maybe a little Christmas shopping will be made but otherwise it's time to bunker down and keep cozy and warm.
We're to see nights here in the 30's this week and high's, if we are lucky, around 50 during the day. There is little more to be done outside here but leaf raking/mulching . The lawn mower does do a great job of mulching them up. I remembered to disconnect my water hoses outside and shut off the water lines to them so there'd be no freezing up.
The pictures today are more of some of the grand babes in their search for the great pumpkin.
I hope you all are keeping warm and have a terrific Tuesday.
Good friends are like quilts - they age with you yet never lose their warmth.

COUNTING MY GIFTS
Love can never grow old. Locks may lose their brown and gold. Cheeks may fade and hollow grow. But the hearts that love will know, never winter's frost and chill, summer's warmth is in them still.
Leo Buscaglia
I have counted at least 3 things I'm thankful for this past year and have now reached my 1000 gifts. I'm not stopping, but will continue on counting. There is always, always something to be thankful for.
1061. for our beautiful state
1062. for a cozy warm home
1063. for blankets and flannel sheets
Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Lord, hold our troops in
your loving hands.
Protect them as they protect us.
Bless them and their families for the
selfless acts they perform for us
in our time of need. I ask this in the
name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT's
GOD BLESS YOU !
All the statistics in the world can't measure the warmth of a smile.
Chris Hart
A little smile, a word of cheer,
A bit of love from someone dear…
Love,

The Leo Buscaglia quote was lovely!
The grands are so cute with the pumpkins, ambitious to find that right one (no matter how big it might be :)
Neat that you got to do some traveling this past summer, Ma, always enjoy reading the tidbits you put up on your adventures. Ohio sounds like a great state to explore!
