71 DAYS UNTIL WINTER
75 DAYS UNTIL CHRISTMAS
Sunrise:7:35 am
Sunset: 6:53 pm
If you can't see the Bright Side, polish the dull side
On this day in 1948, Ohio native, William 'Bill' Boyd, who starred in movies and broadcast programs as Hopalong Cassidy, portrayed the cowboy hero while recording a radio episode titled The Coyote's Creed. Boyd first played 'Hoppy' in 1935. Each year, his hometown of Cambridge, Ohio, stages a festival in his honor.
Whether sixty or sixteen, there is in every human being's heart the lure of wonder, the unfailing child-like appetite of what's next, and the joy of the game of living. In the center of your heart and my heart there is a wireless station; so long as it receives messages of beauty, hope, cheer, courage and power from men and from the infinite, so long are you are young.
Samuel Ullman
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Old times" never come back and I suppose it's just as well. What comes back is a new morning every day in the year, and that's better.
George E. Woodberry
I'm old enough to remember seeing Hoppy on TV. In those days we watched a lot of cowboy shows and they were often our heroes. They knew how to fight for law and order. Now we don't see or hear so much about cowboys, it is more and more popular to watch shows about policemen saving the day. We can be grateful for those that inspire law and order. I think we need more of that in our world. Good always prevails over evil. Goodness matters.
I love it when someone is gifted and shares it in some way so that it has a trickle down effect.
I did get some delicious apple cider when I was out last week and love it heated up to drink on chilly fall evenings. But if you don't have any you can also use plain old apple juice and spice it up for a great drink too. Heat apple juice over the stove. Snap two cinnamon sticks in half and throw it in your pot to flavor the cider. Sprinkle in some allspice, a few cloves, and an orange peel cut into strips. Just pour into a mug and garnish with a cinnamon stick!
Today's pictures are of our little Xfactor, he always wants to do what his daddy does.
I hope you all have a fantastic Friday!
COUNTING MY GIFTS
You don’t even miss a beat when gratitude to God is the beat of your heart.
Anne Voskamp
I have counted at least 3 things I'm thankful for this past year and have now reached my 1000 gifts. I'm not stopping, but will continue on counting. There is always, always something to be thankful for.

I also remember watching Hopalong Cassidy, The Lone Ranger, Howdy Doody, The Gene Autry Show, etc. Those were the "good old days" of Television; When right was right and bad was bad. Blessings
X Factor is so cute! They do indeed like to mimic what their dads do! I bet that apple cider is tasty on a cool fall's evening!
