If you can't see the Bright Side, polish the dull side
Sweetest Day is an observance celebrated primarily in the Great Lakes region, and parts of the Northeast United States, on the third Saturday in October (October 19 in 2013). It is an occasion which offers all of us an opportunity to remember not only the sick, aged and orphaned, but also friends, relatives and associates whose helpfulness and kindness we have enjoyed.
The first Sweetest Day was planned by a committee of 12 confectioners chaired by candymaker C. C. Hartzell. The Sweetest Day in the Year Committee distributed over 20,000 boxes of candy to newsboys, orphans, old folks, and the poor in Cleveland, Ohio.
Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn a life around.
Leo Buscaglia
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
You cannot teach love, but you can feel the sweetness that it pours into everything,
Helen Keller's beloved teacher Anne Sullivan.
Showing your love for others is the best way to find out what love is all about. As with most things it is in the giving that we receive. Sweetest Day is a reminder that a thoughtful deed makes life a whole lot sweeter.
So I'm wishing you all a SWEET day today, and sending lots of hugs your way!
There are so many times throughout a day that we could do
without spending a cent or even taking too much time.
Help someone carry his or her bags to the car.
Hold the door even if you have to wait an extra minute.
Give up your seat for a pregnant woman, elderly
or an infirm person. Smile at the person next to you.
So what if they don't smile back or say thank you.
You've still done something sweet and it is,
after all Sweetest Day.
Whether you're giving, receiving, or just watching
from afar, nothing brightens up your day like a
token of affection, or seeing people treat each other
with kindness.
Have a super sweet Saturday!
COUNTING MY GIFTS
A hug is a great gift - one size fits all, and it's easy to exchange.

I have counted at least 3 things I'm thankful for this past year and have now reached my 1000 gifts. I'm not stopping, but will continue on counting. There is always, always something to be thankful for.
1052. for all my sweeties
1053. for the sweet kindnesses of others
1054. for a sweet life
Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Lord, hold our troops in
your loving hands.
Protect them as they protect us.
Bless them and their families for the
selfless acts they perform for us
in our time of need. I ask this in the
name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT's
GOD BLESS YOU ALL !
The best things in life are nearest: Breath in your nostrils, light in your eyes, flowers at your feet, duties at your hand, the path of right just before you. Then do not grasp at the stars, but do life's plain, common work as it comes, certain that daily duties and daily bread are the sweetest things in life.
Robert Louis Stevenson
A little smile, a word of cheer,
A bit of love from someone dear…
Love,
ma
