69 DAYS UNTIL CHRISTMAS

If you can't see the Bright Side, polish the dull side
Jerome 'Jerry' Siegel, creator of the comic book hero SUPERMAN, was born on this date in 1914, in Cleveland, Ohio. He wrote the storyline and his high school friend Joe Shuster created the art work. The drawings of Clark Kent were based on Siegel's appearance. These teenage boys landed a job with DC Comics and it was the sister company, Action Comics, that released the comic book Superman in 1938. The two sold their copyright to the character and lost out on millions of dollars. Today a copy of Action Comics number one might be worth 500,000.00. They sold for 10 cents in 1938.
Nothing splendid has ever been achieved except by those who dared believe that something inside of them was superior to circumstance.
Bruce Barton
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
If we all did the things we are capable of doing, we would literally astound ourselves.
Thomas Alva Edison
I've known a lot of super people. Men and women that seem to have super powers. They do over and above what has been required of them. Doing just that little extra does make a difference. Sometimes it's just smiling more, sometimes it's being a little kinder or even giving an extra hug or two.
The holidays always mean doing a little extra and Halloween is just a couple of weeks away now.. I've got my trick or treat candy ready. I never know just how many children we'll get. More often than not, I have candy leftover so I try to get something I will eat, not that I need it. At any rate it is a fun thing to do and I love seeing the little ones in their costumes.
I hope you all can do that little extra something today and have a happy Thursday!
There is no traffic jam on the extra mile. In life you've got to give extra to be successful .

COUNTING MY GIFTS
The difference between ordinary and extraordinary is that little extra.
Jimmy Johnson
I have counted at least 3 things I'm thankful for this past year and have now reached my 1000 gifts. I'm not stopping, but will continue on counting. There is always, always something to be thankful for.
1046. for super men and women that give a little extra
1047. for comics that teach good prevails
1048. for lists of all kinds that keep me on track
Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Lord, hold our troops in
your loving hands.
Protect them as they protect us.
Bless them and their families for the
selfless acts they perform for us
in our time of need. I ask this in the
name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT's
GOD BLESS YOU ALL !
The superior man thinks always of virtue; the common man things of comfort.
Confucius
A little smile, a word of cheer,
A bit of love from someone dear…
Love,

My hubby and I do the same thing about Halloween candy. We buy something we don't mind eating later. Blessings
That was an interesting fact about the creators of the Superman action hero. I wonder if even a copy of Action Comics #1 is still around these days. Might be in someone's attic stored in a box, but wow, that would be some great treasure to find!
Yep, 2 weeks from today is Halloween. We too buy the candy we like. Last year we didn't have any trick or treaters, so we'll see what this year brings.
