The United States Naval Academy was established on October 10, 1845, at Annapolis, Maryland.
The academy opened with 50 midshipmen students and seven professors. Known as the Naval School until 1850, the curriculum included mathematics and navigation, gunnery and steam, chemistry, English, natural philosophy, and French. The Naval School officially became the U.S. Naval Academy in 1850, and a new curriculum went into effect, requiring midshipmen to study at the academy for four years and to train aboard ships each summer. The basic format that remains at the academy to this day.
A ship in harbor is safe - but that is not what ships are for.

THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Life's like sailing. You're better to enjoy your journey on the ship instead of just waiting to reach the destination.
Author Unknown
The idiom: I'm waiting for my ship to come in, is often used to describe a situation where one is wistfully hoping for good fortune or inspiration to strike and solve all their problems. However, good fortune rarely arrives unless you put yourself in the right position to receive it.Sitting and waiting for your ship to come in while you do nothing is foolish.
Until you value your time, you will not do anything with it. .... Don't wait for your ship to come in, and feel angry and cheated when it doesn't. I think we are all waiting for something to happen and some of us are expecting wonderful things to happen and they will - when the time is right! Meanwhile, we need to enjoy life as it happens and not wish our days away.
We are all sailing on the ocean of life. We sail every day, with every decision and choice we make or reject. The water and the weather are unpredictable. Take each opportunity as it comes, enjoy the small things in life and discard those things that do not work for you. If you want things to be different in your life in the future, that change needs to start today, not someday.
The pictures today are just signs of fall around my house this time last year. Even have some roses still blooming !
I hope you all have a great day! Happy Thursday!
Watch the little things; a small leak will sink a great ship.

COUNTING MY GIFTS
There are big ships and small ships. But the best ship of all is friendship.

I have counted at least 3 things I'm thankful for this past year and have now reached my 1000 gifts. I'm not stopping, but will continue on counting. There is always, always something to be thankful for.

PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Lord, hold our troops in
your loving hands.
Protect them as they protect us.
Bless them and their families for the
selfless acts they perform for us
in our time of need. I ask this in the
name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT's

I am not afraid of storms for I am learning how to sail my ship.

Again a great reminder to appreciate our lives and not take them for granted and not wish them away waiting for our ship to come in.
