THE BRIGHT SIDE

Decide to be happy today, to live with what is yours – your family, your business, your job, your luck. If you can’t have what you like, maybe you can like what you have.

Just for today, be kind, cheerful, agreeable, responsive, caring, and understanding. Be your best, dress your best, talk softly, and look for the bright side of things. Praise people for what they do and do not criticize them for what they cannot do. If someone does something stupid, forgive and forget. After all, it’s just for one day.

Who knows, it might turn out to be a nice day.

THE BRIGHT SIDE

I'm looking out the window
and the day is drab and dreary,
And I'm trying to console myself
by thinking something cheery
I know it's simply horrible
to get in such a slump
And I also know it's up to me
to get across the hump
And I realize I'm selfish
to mention this to you
For, gee, you might be feeling
a little 'low-down' too
but often when I feel like this
I tell myself it's true
That I am not the only one
who feels 'low-down and blue'
And just knowing there are others
who feel the way I do
Renews my sinking spirit
and keeps me smiling through
and know that it's natural
to take a 'spirit-dive'
Provides the spunk and courage
to hang on and survive
And while there are a lot of moods
that we can drive away
by looking on the BRIGHT SIDE
in all we do and say,
There also is a loneliness
that God meant us to feel
But, gee, it sure is mighty hard
to know which one is real
And I'd hate to be a 'sad sack'
who never saw the sun
And just complained that every day
was such a dreary one.
But I know that all the dark days
are just part of God's plan
We should accept them graciously
and do the best we can...
So I'll just keep on trying
for I know it's 'Gospel true'
there never was a cloud so dark
the sun could not shine through!

On the Bright Side Newsletter

I send this little letter out each morning to all my family and friends and even to a few people that I've never met. Many of them send it on to others too. So in order to make it available to more people I post the 'brighter side' of the news here each day in this journal.

The letter began as an effort to keep in touch with my family as they are spread out in all directions. My family, friends and God are the most important things in my life.

You'll find quotes, poems and stories and even a few recipes included in this newsletter. I try to find something new each day to share.

In a world that very often publishes only the dark side of things I felt that others would be encouraged to hear about

If you can't see the bright side of life, polish the dull side

It's SATURDAY!

Today is BEAUTIFUL Day

Today is a time to put down your pens, log-off your computer and take a moment to look outside and appreciate how beautiful life can be. Go for a walk outside and take a few deep breaths as you take in the beautiful day around you.

Universal Children's day is also observed on November 20th each year. In 1954, the UN General Assembly recommended that all countries should establish a Universal Children's Day on an appropriate day. The resolution was adopted on November 20, 1954.

Children are beautiful!

THINKING

Picture for a moment how many doors we walk through everyday. The bedroom, the bathroom, the front door, the back door, the car, the garage, and bus doors. There are the school doors, the office doors, the church doors as well as the elevator, revolving, and automatic doors. Our lives seem filled with going in and out of doors

NEW IN THE KITCHEN

National Peanut Butter Fudge Day only comes around once a year. So if it's been a while since this singular sweet treat has crossed your mind so here is a recipe for peanut butter fudge to tempt our family with.

Peanut Butter Meltaway Fudge

3 1/2 cups sugar
1 can (12-oz. size) evaporated milk
1/2 cup butter or margarine
2 tablespoons light corn syrup
1 tablespoon white vinegar
2 1/2 cups creamy or crunchy peanut butter
1 jar (7 oz. size) marshmallow creme

In 4-quart saucepan, combine sugar, evaporated milk, butter, corn syrup, and vinegar. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until mixture comes to full rolling boil; boil and stir 5 minutes. Remove from heat.

Add peanut butter and marshmallow creme; stir until smooth. Spread into ungreased 13x9x2-inch pan; cool completely. Cut into squares. Store in tightly covered container at room temperature.

Makes 4 pounds

PRAYERS

Stay with us, Lord, because all around us the shadows are deepening, and you are the Light. Stay with us, Lord, when mists of doubt rise up around us for you are Truth itself. Stay with our families that they may be nests where life is respected from conception to natural death for you are Life itself. Stay, Lord, with our most vulnerable, our poor, our lonely, our elderly, and our sick. You are our Hope.

your loving hands.

selfless acts they perform for us

AROUND HOME

This weekend will probably see the end of our nice weather. We have had cold nights but the sun keeps peeping out and warming the days up a bit. Next week is to start out raining and they say we may see snow come Thanksgiving. I guess we'll just have to wait and see on that one as that's a long range forecast for right now.
