ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
NOVEMBER 3rd, 2010
If you can't see the bright side of life, polish the dull side
It's WEDNESDAY!
And today is National Housewife's Day
Housewives everywhere rejoice! Today is the day you are thanked, given appreciation and acknowledgement for all the hard work, the laundry you wash, the dinners you cook and the untold number of errands and chores you undertake on behalf of your family and partners
It takes hands to build a house, but only hearts can build a home

THINKING
Dust if you must, but wouldn't it be better
To paint a picture, or write a letter,
Bake a cake, or plant a seed;
Ponder the difference between want and need?
Dust if you must, but there's not much time,
With rivers to swim, and mountains to climb;
Music to hear, and books to read;
Friends to cherish, and life to lead.
Dust if you must, but the world's out there
With the sun in your eyes, and the wind in your hair;
A flutter of snow, a shower of rain,
This day will not come around again.
Dust if you must, but bear in mind,
Old age will come and it's not kind.
And when you go (and go you must)
You, yourself, will make more dust.
Remember, a house becomes a home when you can write
I love you on the furniture.....

NEW IN THE KITCHEN
National Sandwich Day
Who needs a reason to chow down on a yummy sandwich? Well today you have one - grab a sandwich of your liking, hot, cold, in a roll, on ciabattas bread. Whatever takes your fancy, today we're celebrating the most convenient of all food, sandwiches
The annals of English history report that John Montagu was the 4th Earl of Sandwich. Among other things, the 4th Earl of Sandwich was a heavy gambler. Montagu often spent many long hours in London's gambling parlors. In 1762, he created the sandwich, by putting meat between two pieces of bread. This allowed him to remain at the gambling table for long periods of time. Obviously, the sandwich was named after him
The Ultimate Ham and Cheese
I recently saw these crescent roll sandwiches advertised so I decided to try them out. There were very easy to do and good too.
You will need a package of refrigerated crescent rolls, Sliced ham, and some cheese. I used good old American cheese.
You just open up the crescent roll dough, put on a cookie sheet. I put some parchment paper under mine as melted cheese tends to stick.
Put a slice of ham on each one and top with a piece of cheese
Then you just roll them up like you would a regular crescent roll and bake per the package directions. I think it was 350 for 12-14 minutes.
The were very good, but you cannot stop at having just one!
PRAYERS
O God, help us entrust all our unanswered and unanswerable questions to your amazing love.
Amen
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Lord, hold our troops in
your loving hands.
Protect them as they protect us.
Bless them and their families for the
selfless acts they perform for us
in our time of need. I ask this in the
name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT's
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!
AROUND HOME
As most of you know by now, this weekend our daylight savings time changes back to standard time. It is also time to change the batteries in your smoke alarms. While you are out shopping; pick up the batteries that fit your alarms. This way you will have them when you are reminded to change the clocks and batteries on Saturday Night. Many house fires happen around the holidays.
Be Safe!!
