ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
NOVEMBER 24TH, 2010
If you can't see the bright side of life, polish the dull side
It's WEDNESDAY!
This week is National Games and Puzzle Week
A week for bringing the family together through playing games, doing puzzles, and generally spending quality family time together
When my family was still at home we always got the game board out on a holiday weekend. Now there are so many of us when we get together that is is hard to do that. Still we do enjoy the quality time we spend together.
THINKING
Everything I Needed to Know in Life I Learned from a Jigsaw Puzzle
Don’t force a fit. If something is meant to be, it will come together
naturally.
When things aren’t going so well, take a break. Everything will look
different when you return.
Be sure to look at the big picture. Getting hung up on the little pieces only leads to frustration.
Perseverance pays off. Every important puzzle went together bit by
bit, piece by piece.
When one spot stops working, move to another. But be sure to come
back later (see perseverance).
The creator of the puzzle gave you the picture as a guidebook.
Variety is the spice of life. It’s the different colors and patterns
that make the puzzle interesting.
Establish the border first. Boundaries give a sense of security and
order.
Don’t be afraid to try different combinations. Some matches are
surprising.
Take time to celebrate your successes (even little ones).
Anything worth doing takes time and effort.
A great puzzle can’t be rushed.
NEW IN THE KITCHEN
Happy National Sardines Day!
Life is like a box of sardines, and everyone is looking for the key.
Alan Bennett
When it comes to the slippery fish, not everyone is interested in opening up that can. In fact I never have.
I found this recipe for a Sardine Sandwich that might be worth a try
Don't judge the way they look. Sardines are very good for you.
You'll need:
Multigrain bread
Raw zucchini slices
1 can of Sardines
1 tsp. mayo
1/2 tsp mustard
1/2 tsp. curry powder
1 small handful of dried fruit
Mix together the salad ingredients and spread on your favorite bread
Then add whatever raw veggies you have in the fridge
Makes 2 sandwiches
PRAYERS
Creator God, as I think about the blessings around my life this week, may I speak your praise. Everything I have comes from you. Fill my heart with gratitude for your ongoing provisions for me
Amen
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Lord, hold our troops in
your loving hands.
Protect them as they protect us.
Bless them and their families for the
selfless acts they perform for us
in our time of need. I ask this in the
name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT's
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!
AROUND HOME
REMEMBER...your plan is your path and your guide. No ONE with a plan has ever lost their way on the road to their goals
I do have plans and make lists all the time. I work at a slower pace than I used to so not all those goals and plans get done when I think they should anymore. I sometimes manage to cross some things off my to do lists, but the list is still very long.
I don't think I've lost the way though and am persevering. Every day I'm a little closer to the goal. Today I may just be able to cross one more thing off my list.
Have a great Wednesday everyone!
COUNTING THE DAYS
God always gives His best to those who leave the choice with Him
27 DAYS UNTIL WINTER!
31 DAYS UNTIL CHRISTMAS
145 DAYS UNTIL CAMPING SEASON BEGINS
Keep looking ON THE BRIGHT SIDE of things.
A little smile, a word of cheer,
A bit of love from someone near…
Love,
ma
