TODAY’S QUOTE
The secret of getting ahead is getting started. The secret of getting started is breaking your complex overwhelming tasks into small manageable tasks, and then starting on the first one.

HAPPY THURSDAY !!
After today there will be only one more day of work til the weekend!
This has been one very long week and I’m looking forward to the weekend.
Saturday will be busy with winterizing the camper but Sunday should be a day of rest indeed. I’m in need of it for sure.
I’ve been achy all week and my head is stuffy. I don’t know if I’m coming down with something or if my body is complaining from last weekends packing up the camper and my sinus have just gone haywire. One way or the other I feel like I need some rest.
To top it all off the weather man says RAIN on Saturday so I’m praying that the front dissipates by then. Miracles do happen you know. Even worse I saw this in next week’s forecast

I am just not ready for winter weather…fall isn’t over yet.
Have a great day all ! Another wonderful one on the Way !

TODAY’S PRAYERS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Lord, hold our troops in
your loving hands.
Protect them as they protect us.
Bless them and their families for the
selfless acts they perform for us
in our time of need. I ask this in the
name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.
GOD BLESS YOU !
25 WORDS
God, I thank You for today, for the ways You will bless me,
and for the ways that I will serve others in Your name
TO REMEMBER…
I am in the hands of God,
and in God’s time all things will be made well.
TODAY IS…CANDY CORN DAY
Candy Corn has been made since the 1880s and is one of the most popular holiday candies in history. Over 20 million pounds of candy corn is sold at Halloween. This is about 5 1/2 billion pieces - enough to circle the moon twice with plenty left over. And each piece only has 3.57 calories

Nicolas Appert was born on this day in 1752 at Chalons-Sur-Marne, France. He was destined to become a great chef and confectioner -- and chemist and inventor. In 1809 the French government awarded Appert with twelve thousand francs for his contribution to the world. Nicolas Appert had, in his search to preserve food, invented a process of heating foods and sealing them in airtight containers. In 1812 he was bestowed with the title, Benefactor of Humanity. Just think, we still use his methods of food preservation today!
1941: Walt Disney released the movie Dumbo, about a young elephant with huge ears. Dumbo’s mother, Mrs. Jumbo, was a circus performer. His only friend, a mouse, and some crows helped him learn to fly
TODAY’S SMILE
There were two brothers who worked on the family land. At harvest time they each received half of the crop and put it in the store in their barns. The younger brother who wasn’t married said to himself, “It isn’t fair that I should have half of the crop when my brother must also look after his wife and family.”
So each night, he would secretly take some of his own grain and leave it in his brother’s barn. Meanwhile the elder brother said to himself, “It isn’t fair that I should have half the crop. When I grow old I will have my children to support me but he will not.” So each night he would secretly take a bag of grain and leave it in his brother’s barn.
Both were surprised at how long their grain lasted until one night they both bumped into each other. Rather than laugh or shout they both embraced knowing that no grain or money could buy the depth of their relationship

synecdoche \si-NEK-duh-kee\, noun:
a figure of speech by which a part is put for the whole or whole for a part or general for the special or vice versa
By 1388, from Middle Latin synodoche, from Late Latin synecdoche, from Greek synekdokhe, literally "a receiving together or jointly," from synekdekhesthai "supply a thought or word, take with something else," from syn- "with" + ek "out" + dekhesthai "to receive," related to dokein seem good
TODAY’S REFLECTION
The Son of Man will come when you least expect Him
Luke 12:40
The Lord has given us Christians the privileged information that He is coming back when we least expect Him. Because of this foreknowledge, we have a greater responsibility to be prepared, for "when much has been given a man, much will be required of him" Lk 12:48
To be prepared for Christ's final coming and to avoid getting bogged down in problems with personal relationships, we must resist three temptations.
First, we must not "abuse the housemen and servant girls" (Lk 12:45). We must not abuse people in any way, including manipulation, gossip, resentment, bitterness, and unforgiveness.
Second, we must follow the Lord in lighting a fire on the earth (Lk 12:49), although this may surface division in our family (Lk 12:51ff). By God's grace, division that is acknowledged and brought to the Lord usually gives way to family harmony.
Third, we must "try to settle" with our opponents as soon as possible (Lk 12:58). In other words, we must love and forgive our enemies immediately.
Jesus, when You come back, may You find me loving You with all my heart and loving my neighbor as myself

HAPPY WEDNESDAY !!
OVER THE HUMP DAY
BRRRCHILL!
We sure have been having some cold nights. It’s been down to 36 degrees most mornings when I get up. I still have to get my garden hoses in and shut off the water supply to the outside faucets. Guess I’d better do that this weekend too.
I made it half way through this work week so there is hope! The weekend is just 2 days away. I’ll still look forward to having 2 days off even though I won’t be camping. There is always a lot to do around this old house.
It’s a quiet week for sure. Not much happening on the homefront.
I did almost forget that today is one of my dulcimer buddies’ birthday… so

TODAY IS…PRETZEL DAY
The origin of the Pretzel can be traced to about 610 A.D. in one of the monasteries of Southern France or Northern Italy. An imaginative monk wanted to use the dough left over after baking bread, so he made strips and formed them to represent children's arms folded in prayer. He called each one a "Pretiola" - the Latin word for little reward. Today over 300 million pounds of Pretzels and Pretzel Products are produced every year

GOLD and SILVER are above all the colors we feel; These two colors are God's healings to reveal
Each color's ray of light,Will give you the help to succeed
SPECIAL THOUGHTS
Many folks want to serve God, but only as advisers.
It is easier to preach ten sermons than it is to live one.
When you get to your wit's end, you'll find God lives there.
People are funny, they want the front of the bus,
the middle of the road, and the back of the church.
Opportunity may knock once, but temptation bangs on your front door forever.
Don't gripe about your church; if it was perfect, you couldn't be a member.
The phrase that is guaranteed to wake up an audience:
"And in conclusion."
If the church wants a better pastor, it only needs to pray for the one it has.
God Himself does not propose to judge a man until he is dead. So why should we?
Peace starts with a smile.
We were called to be witnesses, not lawyers or judges.
TODAY’S WORD
effulgence \i-FUL-juhn(t)s\, noun:
The state of being bright and radiant; splendor; brilliance
From Latin ex, "out of, from" + fulgere, "to shine."
The adjective form of the word is effulgent
TODAY’S REFLECTION
Moses said to the Lord, “See, you have said to me, ‘Bring up this people’; but you have not let me know whom you will send with me. Yet you have said, ‘I know you by name, and you have also found favor in my sight.’ Now if I have found favor in your sight, show me your ways, so that I may know you and find favor in your sight. Consider too that this nation is your people.” He said, “My presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.” And he said to him, “If your presence will not go, do not carry us up from here. For how shall it be known that I have found favor in your sight, I and your people, unless you go with us? In this way, we shall be distinct, I and your people, from every people on the face of the earth.”
Exodus 33:12-16
It is clear that Moses is asking for a DVD of the future, to fast forward and see just how this entire journey is going to end. Wouldn't that make faith so much easier, a little reassurance that it is all going to work out?
And what does God say? “My presence will go with you and I will give you rest.”
God is offering us much more than a GPS. God is offering God's self. We will not go anywhere that God is not. We will not encounter any problem or circumstance where God is not. We will not be told just to “turn right” or “turn left.” We are invited to be in this relationship where God shares God's very presence with us. And that is more than enough for the journey
The bottom line is that God is the One who makes that revelation happen. We can’t do anything to “force God out into the open,” and when anyone sees God in us, it is God’s initiative that makes that happen.
What no eye has seen, nor ear heard, nor the human heart conceived, what God has prepared for those who love him — these things God has revealed to us through the Spirit; for the Spirit searches everything, even the depths of God.
From First Corinthians

HAPPY TUESDAY !!
Monday is over and now the rest of the week shouldn’t be quite so bad. It was a busy day but my brain was in the s l o w mode so that didn’t help a thing. All got done anyway so that is what counts. The guys will get paid again this week.
I heard from DS#2 Sunday evening and he has his plans all set to be at our Thanksgiving celebration. His children won’t be coming, but he’ll be here.
Things are going good for him and his good news was that as of right now he is off the list to go overseas this coming year. I’ll be praying that it stays that way. He reminded me that this is all subject to change.
This evening is our monthly dulcimer night when I get together with my friends for a little music and lots of laughter. It can’t be beat as far as stress relief goes.
It’s Terrific Tuesday. They say it is the best day of the week.
We’ll see…

A sick man turned to his doctor, as he was preparing to leave the examination room and said,"Doctor, I am afraid to die. Tell me what lies on the other side."Very quietly, the doctor said,"I don't know.""You don't know? You, a Christian man, do not know what is on the other side?"
The doctor was holding the handle of the door; on the other side of which came a sound of scratching and whining, and as he opened the door, a dog sprang into the room and leaped on him with an eager show of gladness.
Turning to the patient, the doctor said,"Did you notice my dog? He's never been in this room before

TODAY’S REFLECTION
You cannot add any time to your life by worrying about it
Matthew 6:27
No one has to remind you of the high cost of anxiety. (But I will anyway.) Worry divides the mind. The biblical word for worry (merimnao) is a compound of two Greek words, merizo (“to divide”) and nous (“the mind”). Anxiety splits our energy between today’s priorities and tomorrow’s problems. Part of our mind is on the now; the rest is on the not yet. The result is half-minded living.

TODAY’S REFLECTION
Repay to Caesar what belongs to Caesar and to God what belongs to God.
Matthew 22:21
Jesus’ answer to his detractors was a very clever solution to a trick question. These religious leaders hoped to trap Jesus into making a political statement that painted him either as a revolutionary who opposed paying taxes or as a pawn of the Romans. But Jesus instead gave a profound answer that still challenges us today
We can readily agree that “what belongs to God” is our hearts. We should freely give ourselves to God, offering him our time in prayer and worship and placing him before everything else. But what about “giving unto Caesar”? Does this mean simply resigning ourselves to pay taxes? Probably not. Somehow, “giving unto God” should influence the way we give Caesar his due
When we look at society, we should see it through Jesus’ teaching on justice and mercy. Our service to the poor, our fight for adequate social programs, and our pursuit of justice for the needy really can change the world. Rendering unto Caesar involves actively seeking to advance the kingdom of God so that society is transformed
. Jesus himself calls us to render to Caesar that which will transform our government. The presence of godly and committed citizens can do nothing less

The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patient endurance, kindness, generosity, faith, mildness, and chastity.
Galatians 5:22-23
Fruit is the end product of a process. Fruit does not just happen; it is produced. The Spirit produces His fruit in us when we live in Jesus, the true Vine (Jn 15:5) Many Christians seem to be waiting around for the fruit of the Spirit to just pop up. Fruit isn't like that. All farmers know that, although ultimately the harvest depends on God, they must do several things to make it possible for fruit to be produced. This is also true of the fruit of the Spirit. To make possible the Spirit's fruit, we must cling to Jesus, accept the Lord's discipline, be sorry for our sins, and use the Spirit's gifts

HAPPY WEDNESDAY !!
OVER THE HUMP DAY!
Our cool down begins today. I’ve been very spoiled by the warm weather we’ve had the past few days, but today we will only have a high of 68 degrees with some rain. It only gets cooler each day as the week progresses.
I talked to the people that are fixing the recalled camper refrigerators on Tuesday and they are supposed to fix mine on Thursday. They said they should be able to fix it from the outside. I told them I’d be there all day on Friday if they needed to get inside the camper. I’ll be glad to have it repaired and not have to worry about it not working. This comes just in the nick of time as it’s the last full weekend of camping.
The Hunter Moon was beautiful on my way to work yesterday morning, I probably won’t be able to see it this morning due to cloud cover. I think it was one of the brightest I’ve ever seen. Just absolutely awesome!
Have a great day all ! Another wonderful one on the Way !

TODAY’S REFLECTION
Woe to you Pharisees! You pay tithes of mint and of rue and of every garden herb, but you pay no attention to judgment and to love for God.
In today’s gospel, addressing his message to the Pharisees, the teachers – and to us – he tries to grab our attention: “Woe to you!” His message to the Pharisees is not about paying the prescribed tithes under the Law of Moses but about ignoring those things which Jesus considers more important, including the love of God and of other people
He chastises Pharisees for accepting honors and recognition in their relatively easy life while their unbending adherence to the law made life so much more difficult for everyone else. When the scholars protest, feeling they might have been insulted by his words, he makes clear that they have, telling them, “You impose on people burdens hard to carry, but you yourselves do not lift one finger to touch them.”
In our lives today, Jesus’ message is as powerful as ever. Often, our critical eye doesn't miss a thing done incorrectly by our enemies, our politicians, those who are not our friends and sometimes those we simply don't want to understand. We are quick with our criticism and sharp with our judgment. And too often, we are also quick to absolve ourselves of the sins we can see so clearly in others.
Today's gospel might inspire us to take a one-day moratorium from criticizing anyone. It's a small start that could make us more aware of how we really see things. We can begin by asking Jesus for his help.
It is when we are more aware of how deeply we are loved by God that we can be moved by the gratitude that will ease the judgmental burden we carry with us so often.

TODAY'S THOUGHT
One of the sanest, surest and most generous joys of life comes
from being happy over the good fortune of others.
John Rutledge
TODAY’S ACTION
Be ready to find joy where and when it surfaces
TODAY’S QUOTE
Much unhappiness results from our inability to remember
the nice things that happen to us.

HAPPY TUESDAY !!
Is it only Tuesday? Yesterday was a long slow day at work and today probably won’t go much faster. It’s not that I really want the days to fly by; it is just the time I spend at work I’d like to go a little faster.
The evenings when I’d like the time to slow down a bit are what seems to go by the fastest. Before I know it, it’s time to go to bed and I haven’t got much done.
I talked to DS#5 yesterday, He called because he hasn’t seen me in awhile and he wanted to make sure of some dates coming up. Before we know it Thanksgiving and our family celebration will be here. Not long after that will be our family Christmas Feast which will be on the 20th of December this year. DS#5 and his wife host that for us so he wanted to make sure of that date too.
I’ll be sending out more info on Thanksgiving and Christmas soon.
After Halloween there are only 8 weeks till Christmas
Have a great day all ! Another wonderful one on the Way !
TODAY’S PRAYERS
You Have Our Attention Lord
Our friends lost their houseThe co-worker lost her jobThe couple next door lost their retirementIt seems that everyone is losing their footing
This scares us. This bailout with billions. These rumblings of depression. These headlines: ominous, thunderous-“Going Broke!” “Going Down!” “Going Under!” “What Next?”
We were wrong to spend what we didn’t have,Wrong to neglect prayer and ignore the poor,Wrong to think we ever earned a dime. We didn’t. You gave it. And now, tell us Father, are you taking it?
Of course you can. You always have. You led slaves out of slavery,Built temples out of ruins,Turned stormy waves into a glassy pond and water into sweet wine.
This disorder awaits your order. So do we. Through Christ,Amen
God will always give what is right to his people who cry to him night and day, and he will not be slow to answer them.

In honor of 211,600 beekeepers and 2.63 million colonies of honeybees (yes, we're guessing at those numbers). But, no matter how many there might be, they produce more than 220 million pounds of honey every single year! More than enough for your cup of tea

A famed English explorer was invited to Dartmouth to tell of his adventures in the African jungle.
"Can you imagine, a people so primitive that they love to eat the embryo of certain birds, and slices from the belly of certain animals? And grind up grass seed, make it into paste, burn it over a fire, then smear it with a greasy mess they extract from the mammary fluid of certain other animals?"
When the students looked startled by such barbarism,
the explorer added softly, "What I've been describing, of course, is a breakfast of bacon and eggs and buttered toast

TODAY’S REFLECTION
Oh you Pharisees!
Although you cleanse the outside of the cup and the dish,
inside you are filled with plunder and evil
Luke 11:39
When Jesus was invited to dine at the home of a Pharisee, he was criticized by his host for failing to perform the customary ablutions before the meal. In their legalistic interpretation of God's law, the Pharisees were scrupulous about ritual cleanliness (performed in case of contact with "unclean" heathens). Jesus was more concerned with moral purity than with outward observance of the law. He made the comparison of tableware that had been washed clean on the outside but remained filthy inside. These religious leaders were contaminating the people with their emphasis on externals while ignoring the essence of the law: charity and justice.
