ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
OCTOBER 14TH, 2008
TODAY'S THOUGHT
One of the sanest, surest and most generous joys of life comes
from being happy over the good fortune of others.
John Rutledge
TODAY’S ACTION
Be ready to find joy where and when it surfaces
TODAY’S QUOTE
Much unhappiness results from our inability to remember
the nice things that happen to us.
W.N. Rieger
HAPPY TUESDAY !!
Is it only Tuesday? Yesterday was a long slow day at work and today probably won’t go much faster. It’s not that I really want the days to fly by; it is just the time I spend at work I’d like to go a little faster.
The evenings when I’d like the time to slow down a bit are what seems to go by the fastest. Before I know it, it’s time to go to bed and I haven’t got much done.
I talked to DS#5 yesterday, He called because he hasn’t seen me in awhile and he wanted to make sure of some dates coming up. Before we know it Thanksgiving and our family celebration will be here. Not long after that will be our family Christmas Feast which will be on the 20th of December this year. DS#5 and his wife host that for us so he wanted to make sure of that date too.
I’ll be sending out more info on Thanksgiving and Christmas soon.
After Halloween there are only 8 weeks till Christmas
Have a great day all ! Another wonderful one on the Way !
TODAY’S PRAYERS
You Have Our Attention Lord
Our friends lost their houseThe co-worker lost her jobThe couple next door lost their retirementIt seems that everyone is losing their footing
This scares us. This bailout with billions. These rumblings of depression. These headlines: ominous, thunderous-“Going Broke!” “Going Down!” “Going Under!” “What Next?”
We were wrong to spend what we didn’t have,Wrong to neglect prayer and ignore the poor,Wrong to think we ever earned a dime. We didn’t. You gave it. And now, tell us Father, are you taking it?
Of course you can. You always have. You led slaves out of slavery,Built temples out of ruins,Turned stormy waves into a glassy pond and water into sweet wine.
This disorder awaits your order. So do we. Through Christ,Amen
God will always give what is right to his people who cry to him night and day, and he will not be slow to answer them.
Lk. 18:7
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Lord, hold our troops in
your loving hands.
Protect them as they protect us.
Bless them and their families for the
selfless acts they perform for us
in our time of need. I ask this in the
name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.
GOD BLESS YOU!
25 WORDS

TODAY IS…HONEY BEE DAY
In honor of 211,600 beekeepers and 2.63 million colonies of honeybees (yes, we're guessing at those numbers). But, no matter how many there might be, they produce more than 220 million pounds of honey every single year! More than enough for your cup of tea

TODAY’S SMILE
A famed English explorer was invited to Dartmouth to tell of his adventures in the African jungle.
"Can you imagine, a people so primitive that they love to eat the embryo of certain birds, and slices from the belly of certain animals? And grind up grass seed, make it into paste, burn it over a fire, then smear it with a greasy mess they extract from the mammary fluid of certain other animals?"
When the students looked startled by such barbarism,
the explorer added softly, "What I've been describing, of course, is a breakfast of bacon and eggs and buttered toast

TODAY’S REFLECTION
Oh you Pharisees!
Although you cleanse the outside of the cup and the dish,
inside you are filled with plunder and evil
Luke 11:39
When Jesus was invited to dine at the home of a Pharisee, he was criticized by his host for failing to perform the customary ablutions before the meal. In their legalistic interpretation of God's law, the Pharisees were scrupulous about ritual cleanliness (performed in case of contact with "unclean" heathens). Jesus was more concerned with moral purity than with outward observance of the law. He made the comparison of tableware that had been washed clean on the outside but remained filthy inside. These religious leaders were contaminating the people with their emphasis on externals while ignoring the essence of the law: charity and justice.
