We sure have been having some cold nights. It’s been down to 36 degrees most mornings when I get up. I still have to get my garden hoses in and shut off the water supply to the outside faucets. Guess I’d better do that this weekend too.
I made it half way through this work week so there is hope! The weekend is just 2 days away. I’ll still look forward to having 2 days off even though I won’t be camping. There is always a lot to do around this old house.
It’s a quiet week for sure. Not much happening on the homefront.
I did almost forget that today is one of my dulcimer buddies’ birthday… so
HAPPY BIRTHDAY !

Many folks want to serve God, but only as advisers.

Moses said to the Lord, “See, you have said to me, ‘Bring up this people’; but you have not let me know whom you will send with me. Yet you have said, ‘I know you by name, and you have also found favor in my sight.’ Now if I have found favor in your sight, show me your ways, so that I may know you and find favor in your sight. Consider too that this nation is your people.” He said, “My presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.” And he said to him, “If your presence will not go, do not carry us up from here. For how shall it be known that I have found favor in your sight, I and your people, unless you go with us? In this way, we shall be distinct, I and your people, from every people on the face of the earth.”

It is clear that Moses is asking for a DVD of the future, to fast forward and see just how this entire journey is going to end. Wouldn't that make faith so much easier, a little reassurance that it is all going to work out?
And what does God say? “My presence will go with you and I will give you rest.”
God is offering us much more than a GPS. God is offering God's self. We will not go anywhere that God is not. We will not encounter any problem or circumstance where God is not. We will not be told just to “turn right” or “turn left.” We are invited to be in this relationship where God shares God's very presence with us. And that is more than enough for the journey
The bottom line is that God is the One who makes that revelation happen. We can’t do anything to “force God out into the open,” and when anyone sees God in us, it is God’s initiative that makes that happen.
What no eye has seen, nor ear heard, nor the human heart conceived, what God has prepared for those who love him — these things God has revealed to us through the Spirit; for the Spirit searches everything, even the depths of God.
