The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.
Slightly adapted from one of my morning devotionals
Life is a special occasion!
Today is a celebration for a HAPPY BIRTHDAY for another one of my granddaughters, Our Northern Belle. These pictures of her are a couple of years old now so she is older than what she is appears. Her actual birthday was the 12th so this is a belated birthday. I apologize for the lateness of this post.

Happy Birthday to you♥
.Today is also Eat a Hoagie Day which celebrates a sandwich that consists of a long roll of Italian or French bread sliced lengthwise and filled with meats, cheese, vegetables, seasonings, sauces and more.
The hoagie, also known as a sub or a grinder, is a sandwich whose name originated in Philadelphia. One story claimed that Italian immigrants, who worked at a shipyard called called Hog Island during WWI. The workers were nicknamed hoagies so eventually the name was associated with the large sandwiches but the spelling evolved over time. There are several different other stories, but they all give credit to Philly for the hoagie name.
Celebrate today and eat a hoagie sandwich with your favorite fillings. Enjoy
To see the bright side, polish the dull side
Life is like a sandwich. Birth as one slice, and death as the other. What you put in between the slices is up to you. Is your sandwich tasty or sour?

This granddaughter's birthday is another one of my long distance celebrations. But a card will be sent out as usual filled with love and birthday wishes.
I used to make what I called a moving sub made with an Italian loaf of bread sliced in half and filled with various meats and cheeses. It had lettuce on top and tomatoes with a few slice onions on top and drizzled with creamy Italian dressing. I would alternate a layer of meat and then cheese until the sandwich was filled. Then I’d package it in a bog so the flavors could meld overnight I would make it for those that moved in our family. I started it when they were moving into dorms at college and continued on when some moved into their homes. Everyone seemed to love them!
I also make and have eaten Philly Steak sandwiches. They are delicious and are made on a sub bun. We’ve never called they hoagies, but use the term subs.
As it turned out my daughter and her husband didn’t go out to the concert last night but DS#2 and DS#4 and their wives did, so two of my grandsons came over to hang out with us while they were gone. What a joy it is to have them visiting. They are my sunshine boys who always make me smile. Today the whole family will be leaving to go home. I will miss them all so much but am thankful they got to visit.
We are having another 100 degree day still not too humid so it makes it feel better. They are from Florida, and used to high humidity and heat. One of my grandson’s said he was getting chapped lips from the lack of humidity here.
I hope you all have a SUPER Saturday!
Sandwiches are wonderful. You don’t need a spoon or a plate.

PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters and EMT’s.
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
Sandwich every bit of criticism between two heavy layers of praise.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY for another one of your granddaughters. Birthdays are so nice. This is funny - I had sort of a keto hoagie today for lunch and a chicken sausage from Aldi's - it was delicious!
That's interesting about how the hoagie got its name. I love factoids like that. That quote about birth and death is excellent. Happy birthday to your Northern Belle!
Happy Birthday 🥳 🎈
