The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.
Slightly adapted from one of my morning devotionals
81 DAYS UNTIL WINTER
Life is a special occasion!
Today is National Day for Truth and Reconciliation
Which is observed annually in Canada, recognizing the legacy of the Indian Residential school system. Now recognized as a Federal Holiday in select Provinces, the fly is also known as Orange Shirt Day.
This day was first established in 2013, as part of an effort to promote awareness and education of the residential school system, which is recognized as a cultural genocide and has impacted Indigenous communities for over a century.
The use of an orange shirt was inspired by Phylis Jack Webstad, whose personal clothing - including a new orange shirt - was taken from her during her residential schooling and never returned. Many Indigenous children had similar experiences when forced into the residential school system to assimilate and many never returned home.
Since Indengeous communities began discovering hundreds then thousands of unmarked graves, many Orange shirts have displayed the slogan, Every Child Matters. You can observe this day by wearing an Orange shirt.
To see the bright side, polish the dull side
The truth is rarely pure and never simple.

I truly believe that Every child matters no matter their race or color. They are all children of God, uniquely and specially made. Like Canada we have many American Indians living in our country. They were here before the settlers moved in and we have fought and now keep them in Indian Resevations. They are proud of their ancestry and we should treat them all with respect. Just as we should with anyone . We are a country of migrants who all came from different places allowing us to have a variety of customs and traditions.
These differences make us who we are and we should all try to get along. I found out that in my family tree, one of my ancestors settling in Virginia had married an Indian. We found her name listed and it was definitely an Indian Name, but I have no Indian blood so they must have never had children of their own.
My ancestry includes English, German, French, and Hungarian with a few other European countries thrown in for a good mix , but no American Indian.
We had a pleasant visit from DS#2 and his wife yesterday. They came over to watch the Browns lose another football game and then we enjoyed eating dinner together. I can never say how much I am blessed with family. We all enjoy each other's company. It’s hard to believe so much time has passed since I first moved here and it’s already the end of September. I can hardly wait to see what October brings our way!
Today’s pictures are of Orange shirts.
I hope you all have a GREAT start to this new week. Happy Monday!
Be mindful. Be grateful. Be positive. Be true. Be kind.

PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters and EMT’s.
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
If you tell the truth, you don’t have to remember anything.
