ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
FOR WEDNESDAY, JULY 22ND, 2020
The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Today is National Hot Dog Day which is designated by the National Hot Dog & Sausage Council in the USA. A hotdog is a fully cooked sausage, traditionally grilled or steamed. It is typically served as a sandwich in a sliced bun, or as a corn dog dipped in a corn batter and deep fried, or as an ingredient in other dishes like beanie weenies or Pigs in a blanket. It is often garnished with mustard, ketchup, onions mayonnaise, relish, cheese, chili or sauerkraut.

THOUGHT FOR TODAY
A hot dog at the game beats roast beef at the Ritz.
Humphrey Bogart
I love beans and weiners and it’s a quick and easy dish to make up in a hurry. Beens provide plenty of good fiber and protein that make hot dogs healthier when served together.
Beans and Franks
Makes 6 servings
2 tsp. butter
3 tbsp. chopped onions
1 can baked beans
1 pkg frankfurters sliced
1/3 c. brown sugar, optional
1 tsp. prepared mustard
1 tsp celery salt
Preheat ove to 350 degrees. Melt butter in skillet and saute onions. Stir in baked beans and sliced frankfurters. Season with brown sugar, if desired and mustard and celery salt. Transfer to a 2 quart casserole dish. Bake for 40 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Serve with coleslaw and a side of cornbread.
Cornbread is considered healthy too as it is made from a whole grain which gives plenty of fiber and nutrients such as calcium, iron, magnesium, phosphorus, potassium and folic acid, folate and vitamins A, B6, and B12. Unfortunately prepared mixes also contain extra sodium and sugars.
The pictures today are not of corn dogs, but my version of Pigs in a blanket made by rolling out a biscuit and wrapping it around a hot dog and baking them in the oven.
Today is one of my favorite days of the month. I’m off with my daughter to get a hair cut, which always make me feel better. Especially on these hot days of summer.
I hope you all have a WONDERFUL Wednesday!

Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!
ADVICE FOR TODAY
I don’t think there’s anything wrong with a hot dog or other convenience foods as long as they’re balanced with fresh vegetables. It’s hard to ignore 95 percent of the grocery store.

A little smile, a word of cheer,
A bit of love from someone dear…

Hot dogs are a favorite summer time treat.
When my kids were young I made something very similar but used strips of dough to wrap around the hot dogs to make mummy dogs on Halloween.
Your pigs-in-a-blanket look sooo good! Americana, for sure.
Tom used to prepare something similar, using croissant rolls and the miniature sausages we'd dip in little pots of mayo and mustard. I hadn't thought of those in years!
I like your pigs in a blanket, Ma! So easy to put together!! I do like hot dogs . Was telling Myra there are several hot dog only fast food restaurants here with a variety of different hot dogs served with mac and cheese, bacon, etc. We've tried a few and they are all delicious! I need a haircut; I like it shorter in the hot summer months but I run out of time on the weekends :)
