ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
FOR MONDAY, JULY 6TH, 2020
The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.
79 DAYS UNTIL FALL
Sunrise: 6:01 am
Sunset: 9:04 pm
Life is a special occasion!!

Today is International Kissing Day which is the perfect opportunity to give your partner a smooch or your loved ones a quick peck on the cheek. The art of locking lips has values that are easy to miss in a rush to rack up as many kisses as possible. A kiss isn’t only romantic, it’s a sign of affection that reminds people that you care.
Also lets not forget about the health advantage. Mental health is a big deal, but so is physical well being. Weirdly and wonderfully kissing can burn up 6 calories per minute. Its beats working out at the gym. Last but not least, it transends cultural norms. Everybody loves a kiss regardless of the country or customs.
Your hubby or wife will get a different type of kiss than your Mom and Dad. It might mean moving away from the mouth to the forehead kiss instead. Some people will prefer to blow air kisses instead.
Which ever way you kiss, it’s a day to spread the love.

THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Deep summer is when laziness finds respectability.
Sam Keen
Even before the days of self distancing, I found my self getting more kisses on the check than the lips. These days there are only ones that air blown. Everyone wants to keep safe.
It’s going to be another hot week here in northern Ohio. Which is not our norm for sure and it takes some getting used to. I’m going to have to be creative as far as the menu, making only salads and sandwiches to keep cool.
Today’s salad is going to be
Spinach Salad with a Warm Bacon Dressing
Serves 4
8 oz young spinach
2 eggs
8 pieces bacon, chopped
3 tablespoons vinegar
1 tsp. sugar
1/2 tsp Djon mustard
Sa;t and pepper to taste
1 smal onion, thinly sliced
Remove the stems from the spinach and wash drain and pat dry. Place in large mixing bowl and set aside. Hard boil the eggs. Remove the shell and slice into 8 pieces and set aside
Fry the bacon and remove to drain on paper towels. reserve 3 tablespoons of rendered fat. Crumble the bacon and set aside Transfer the fat to small sauce pan set over low heat and whisk in the vinegar, sugar and mustard. Season with salt and pepper.
Add the dressing and bacon and onions to the spinach and toss to combine. Devide the spinach between 4 plates or bowls and evenly divide egg slices among them. Season as desired. Serve while dressing is warm.
This will make a meal for me but many people serve it as a side dish. Either way it’s delicious.
The only thing on my calendar for this week is a doctor appointment on Thursday for a check up. We’ll hope that goes well. This is a new doctor for me as my old one retired several years ago now. So it’s been awhile, but time I got checked out.Otherwise the only thing on my agenda is keep as cool as possible.
Today’s pictures are from last summer courtesy of DS#6 and family. Looks like a cool place to be on a hot day.
Try to keep cool everyone and remember to keep hydrated, Drink plenty of water.
I hope you all have a GREAT start to this new week. Happy Monday! XO

Relax, keep cool and enjoy summer
Nice photos! I'm tired of blown kisses and air hugs but it's not worth taking any chances. I'm making a note to add that salad to next week's menu plan, sounds delicious! Have a great week :)
Looks like a nice place your son's family was at! You are right, a great place to escape some of the heat! That spinach salad sounds delicious. I'm going to have to make it sometime this summer. Good advice to drink plenty of water with the hot temps!

My parents and I were always cheek kissers. But, after my younger brother died and I returned to hometown, Dad gave me a lip smack. totally weird.
We always had bacon grease w/vinegar salads with our loose leaf lettuce from our garden when I was growing up. Remember it fondly.
I love spinach salads, and yours sounds terrific! I, too, could make that my entire meal.
Our weather folks are warning of extreme heat these next few days, so I'm thanking my lucky stars for a operating A/C! It hurts my heart to imagine my grandparents on their Minnesota farm with no central air. Guess you don't miss what you've never had, but still ...
