ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
FOR SATURDAY, JULY 25TH, 2020
The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Today is National Hot Fudge Sundae Day which is a sundae that pairs cold ice cream with warm chocolate fudge . This classic decadent treat also comes with some nuts, whipped cream and cherries on top for a world famous dessert.
The Guiness Book of World Records has documented several record setting sundaes. The most expensive sundae can be ordered at Serendipity 3 in NYC for the hefty sum of $25,000.00. In March 2018, the world’’s largest sundae was created at the Spirit of Texas festival in College Statin, TX. It measured over 5,549 feet long.
To celebrate today you don’t have to go to such great lengths. Just treat yourself to a scrumptious hot fudge sundae with all your favorite toppings.
If you can’t see the bright side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Ice Cream — the great melter of all resolve.
Dr. Idel Dreimer
I would love a hot fudge sundae today but it wouldn’t be good for me, so maybe I’ll just have a small cone or scoop of plain ice cream instead. That isn’t what I’d prefer, but what would be better for me. The mixture of ice cream and warm hot fudge is delicious. However I’m learning to cut back on a lot of my favorites. You can make your own hot fudge sauce if you’d like.
Five Minute Hot Fudge Sauce
14 oz. sweetened condensed milk, 1 can
1 cup semi sweet chocololate chips
2 tbsp. unsalted butter
Ice Cream for serving.
Add sweetened condensed milk and chocolate chips to a saucepan. Heat over medium heat, stirring constantly , until chocolate chips are melted.
Remove from heat and stir in butter until butter is melted. Place in a jar. Use while hot.
Store leftovers covered in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks. To reheat, place jar in microwave and heat in 30 second increments, stir between each until melted and smooth.
Makes 2 cups.
Today is the party for DS#6’s two children and as they live a couple hours away I’ll be going there with DS#5 and his family I don’t drive that far by myself anymore. I’m excited to see their new house and all the other members of my family that will be there. Due to the virus we haven’t been able to visit like we usually do. They moved back in March and this is my first visit there. We’ve all been practicing safe distancing and none of us has been been exposed to the virus, so it should make for a safe bubble to be in .
The temps are in the low 80’s so it should make it the perfect day to be outside a lot. I’’ve heard there will be a slippy slide water feature for the kids to play in, so it should be lots of fun. Hopefully I’ll have pictures to share tomorrow.
Today’s pictures are of some ice cream we’ve enjoyed previous summers. I’m sure there will be some of that there too.
I hope you all have a SUPER Saturday!

I love family get togethers !
Now I'm going to be craving a hot fudge sundae. I'm going to have to add a few things to the grocery list this week. Hope you have a great time at the party. Hugs :)
How fun to see your son's family's new house! The water activity I am sure will be a hit with the kids! I haven't had a sundae in years but always did like hot fudge ones.

Gosh, I can't begin to wrap my mind around a $25,000 sundae. (As my mother used to say, "That's just wicked.") I wouldn't say 'no' to ice cream and hot fudge, but doubt the guilt trip afterwards would be worth it. Now a slippery slide on an 80* day sounds like a blast! I'm looking forward to seeing your pictures tomorrow!
There is nothing to compare to a hot fudge sundae that is for sure. Hope the party is fun for all.
