ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
FOR FRIDAY, JULY 31ST, 2020
The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Today is National Jump for Jelly Beans Day which encourages candy lovers everywhere to jump for joy and show appreciation for Jelly Beans. These tiny candies evolved from an ancient confection called Turkish delight, which was one of the earliest forms of hard candy.
Our modern day jelly beans gained popularity during the American Civil War. A candy company in Boston began marketing jelly bens as the perfect treat to send to soldiers, and soon everyone was hooked. One of the most famous Jelly Bean fans was President Ronald Reagan. He served them at his inauguration.
To celebrate today, treat yourself to a delicious handful of jelly beans . Jump for joy when you stumble upon your favorite flavor!
If you can’t see the bright side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
There is no denying that candy is comfort food and it’s affordable.

Usually the only time I have jelly beans here is at Easter time, but they are available any time of year. They come in any flavor imaginable. I’ve even had some that tasted like popcorn. But my favorites are the fruit flavored ones.
Today is supposed to be a partly cloudy day with temps in the 70's so it’ll be a good day to get out for some exercise. I went for a bike ride last, so today I think I’ll go for a walk. I’m not sure which burns the most energy, but I figure anything is good as long as I keep moving.
It’s the end of another week and almost the end of another month. It hardly seems possible August is almost here. Although we’re still sheltering at home from the virus, they say our schools will open and most are giving people a choice whether or not they want to attend in person or go to school online.
At any rate people’s thoughts are turning to back to school supplies and clothes for back to school. It seems most of my grands have grown a lot over the summer and need longer pants and shirts to start back to school. I remember the excitement of getting new notebooks and crayons for back to school.I don’t think that has changed much at all.
Most kids will be happy to see their friends once again and catch up with what they did over the summer. It’s a funny thing, but I heard it on the news, we once taught our children to share their things with others, but now we have to tell them not to. They now have to keep things to themselves for their own safety. Such a changing world we live in. The new normal will not be normal at all.
Please join me in praying for all those headed back to school, both teachers and students, that they have a safe and happy school year.
Meanwhile it’s still summer and we still have a few more weeks of summer vacation. Today’s pictures are of some summer fun my family had last year.
I hope you all have a FANTASTIC Friday!

they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.

Teachers, staff, and students all over the country will be in my prayers for sure.
Popcorn-flavored jelly beans?! Heretofore, I've only liked the black ones, but popcorn sounds fun-ilicious!
As if our teachers and staff haven't had enough challenges through the years, now the threat of accidental exposure. I'm definitely praying for their wisdom -- and good health -- as they navigate these new challenges.
I love jelly beans at Easter time. Kids will start the year virtually learning for at least a few weeks if not longer. I know so many are missing their friends.
