ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
FOR SUNDAY, APRIL 5TH, 2020
The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Today is Palm Sunday which is a Christian moveable feast that always follows on the Sunday before Easter Sunday. It’s the final Sunday of Lent and the beginning of Holy Week. The day commemorates the triumphant entry of Jesus into Jerusalem in the days before He was crucified. . It is also called Passion Sunday or the Sunday of the Lord’s Passion.
Palm Sunday is marked by the distribution of Palm leaves to the assembled worshipers. In the Gospels Jesus entered Jerusalem riding a young donkey and to the lavish praise of townspeople who threw palms or small branches in front of him as s sign of homage. Palm branches are widely used symbol of peace and victory.
If you can’t see the bright side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Hossana to the son of David! Blessed is who comes in the name of the Lord. Hosanna in the highest.
Matthew 21:9
This is the 4th Sunday we’ve been without a church service to go to and it’s hard to believe that we won’t have one for Palm Sunday or Easter Sunday this year either. Still we need to remember we are an Easter people and that Alleluia is our Song. No matter that we don’t have a church to go to we can watch on line or read the Gospel readings with our family and remember this day. Someone once told me that the church is is only a building. The real church is the people.
Thankfully I still have my palms from last year and won’t be getting rid of them any time soon. They are displayed around my house and will stay there until I get new ones. The pictures today are of a gift of an Easter Lily I received.
This will be our final week to get ready for Easter Day and I still have a few things I’d like to do. I know that for some that will mean coloring hard boiled eggs and luckily I do have some on hand to do so. Ordinarily I’d be passing out candy to my loved ones, and I have some set aside in plastic bags for when I do get to see them.
I also want to make some special candy for all called Birds nests and that is what the recipe is for today
Chocolate Coconut Bird Nests
3/4 c. chocolate chips
1 1/2 c. shredded coconut
24 malted Robin Eggs candy or Jelly Beans
Preheat oven to 400 degrées. Spread the shredded coconut on baking sheet for toasting. Place in oven 5 to 10 minutes. until coconut is a light golden brown. Let cool while melting chocolate chips in a microwave safe bowl and melt 20 in 30 increments until chocolate is melted. Add coconut to chocolate and toss to combine. Use a spoon or ice cream scoop and scoop about 2 to 3 tbsp. of the mixture on a piece of parchment paper and shape into a nest. Top each with 3 candy eggs or jelly beans. Repeat with rest of ingredients Let nests sit at room temperature for 4 or 5 days or place in fridge to harden. Yields 8 to 10
Hopefully I’ll be seeing a few of my family during the week so I can give some out. They drop off groceries for me staying at a safe distance. Otherwise it’s looking like a very chocolatey Easter for me.
I won’t be making a big ham for Easter but do have some slices of ham in the freezer that will make do and I plan on making some potato salad to go with it and Baked beans and ham are always good together.
First things first though we still have to get through Holy week before we celebrate. Holy Thursday and Good Friday are yet to come. Let’s make these days ahead special ones as we remember the last days of Jesus on Earth.
I hope you have a RELAXING Sunday!!
COUNTING MY GIFTS

that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.

We ask this through Christ our Lord.

Have a safe and happy Palm Sunday!
Getting ready to do our church on line. So true the church is people and not the building. We gave the eggs and dye kit to son yesterday along with some other stuff. He met us in the backyard and we kept 10 feet away. It was nice to see him. We are trying to think of a joyous way to celebrate Easter. It is a great day and deserves recognition indeed.

Palm Sunday today. Even if we don't have a church service, we honor it in our hearts.
And on Easter Sunday, will you do the same thing that I will do?
I love Easter Sunday Sunrise Services. This Easter, I will be on on my front porch (my house faces East) and will remember the rising Son with the rising sun.
Let's spread the word to do that!!
In spite of current circumstances, I love this season of peace and promise.
'Recently spotted a moving picture (of) an empty church with the words, "The church isn't empty. The church has been deployed!"
"The church has been deployed"!! Excellent.
